It's mind-boggling that people don't buckle their kids in! When we do boot drives (as we did for Muscular Dystrophy this weekend) I see lots of adults and kids not buckled. I politely as adults to buckle the kids. Most of them do, when asked nicely. I just hope they remember next time...
God bless them all but please, please wear your seatbelt. They save lives. And please belt your kids in even for a short ride to the store. That is when most accidents happen, within a mile from home. Would you feed your children poison? Toss them in a pen with a rabid dog? Of course not. You love them and protect them. Use car seats and belts. I hope that all of these folks are alright.
I feel a little guilty about my first post. I am not trying to start blaming and criticizing while people are so injured. I really do pray that they all recover quickly and completely. It sounds like it was a terrible wreck, and God bless our first responders who surely must have nightmares about what they have to see.
My kids were convinced that the car wouldn't start unless seatbelts were buckled. Sometimes you say what you gotta say to protect those precious lives, you know?
My prayers are with everyone in this accident. God keep you all.
All law enforcement should be ticketing drivers for not seat belting their children, also for texting while driving. And a no cellphone law should be passed, and all three enforced.
I find one comment in this article very disturbing. "Because a fatality is a distinct possibility," should never have been included. That is one phrase you will never hear by supportive friends while sitting in a cold ICU waiting room chair.
