Once Barnesville-Lamar County's largest employer, the William Carter Co. will cease virtually all its operations here June 1, leaving 212 people jobless. Employees of the local distribution center here were told this morning that they will be losing their jobs. UPDATE: The outlet store in downtown Barnesville will also be shuttered, according to Carter's CFO Richard Westenberger.
Carter's is done with Barnesville-Lamar County.
NAFAT was pushed by the elder Bush and supported by Democrats and Republicans equally. It was going through legislature at the time of the election of Clinton and when it crossed Clinton's desk he signed it.
At that time only Ross Perot was speaking against NAFTA, saying it would result in "a giant sucking sound" as jobs left the USA for Mexico. Both Republicans and Democrats were equally involved in pushing NAFTA during the elder Bush end of term and Clinton was more than happy to be in our political musical chair when it was signed.
This is exactly like our mortgage and banking problems today, where both parties were heavily involved in setting up the disaster.
We can never make it better if we don't all face the truth, and stop assigning the mistakes to one party or the other. The Republicans are equally, if not more, responsible because they had the most control over the 30 year period that led up to this mess.
Last time I checked, President Barack Obama was President. Osama Bin Laden is not the President of the United States.

What always happens is wealth and jobs move from the richer trading partner to the poorer partner. The rest of us must support the people who had a job but lost it.
When the Europeans formed a trade union, they chose equally wealthy or nearly equally wealthy partners. We are fools who think only of today or what looks good on paper, and are going to get rich from the Chinese or Mexicans.
Carter's will eventually find, while they make more money in the short term outsourcing jobs, they eventually lose in the long run. When everyone here isn't working no one will be able to buy their imported crap, we'll all be at WalMart buying stuff directly from the Chinese. Carter's will eventually go bust because they will just be another source of cheap Chinese or Mexican crap, like some of the tainted Chinese baby clothes they had to recall.

There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force -pay them $1 million a piece severance with the following stipulations:
1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed..
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.
Can't get any easier than that!
NAFTA actually surfaced in the Carter years. It was being pushed by the democrats but Reagan held it at bay. Bush Sr. did his part to hold it down but it kept rearing its ugly head supported by your democratic socialist party. Then along comes Clinton and that woushing sound was all your jobs exiting the country and the gate being left open so illegal aliens could slip in and take the jobs that welfare Americans didn’t want. It is also the majority of your socialist democrats that want to turn their heads from law breakers which are illegal aliens, and allow them to stay in the country. That is OK for the welfare Americans because they prefer not to have to take those jobs and lose those free checks, Clinton ushered in the real start of the socialist movement while riding high off the accomplishments of Regan and Bush. When Jr. arrived on the scene he was faced with an attack on America and the job of keeping you turncoat sorry asses safe. Sorry folks, that put a bind on economic situations. It cost lots of money to run a war, and even more for two of them.
There is lots of information that you are not privy to in the interest of national security. However, I know that is over many of your heads and presently there is no cure for long term ignorance. But Bush did keep all of you safe. It started in Afghanistan and made its way to Iraq. For those of you that don’t believe Sadam didn’t have WMDs, then you’ve joined the group of the intelligence challenged. For those of you that don’t believe American forces haven’t found any WDMs, you have no understanding of the term interest of national security. Those forces America is fighting in Afghanistan didn’t wave a magic wand and weapons to fight could appear. Weapons were being supplied through Iraq and believe it or not, nerve agent use was in you future. But that information was not going to be made public. Imagine the fear and panic it would stir up. Hence interest of national security. Bush Jr sacrificed his favoritism in the political arena for the majority of you whiners and political idiots.
The economy really started it downward crash during the last 2 years of the Bush administration. It was fuel by a democratic (socialist) party preying on the ignorance of the common people while pointing fingers at the current administration. It was a win / win situation for them. They had someone else to blame and common political idiots who would listen.
Enter Obama. He can be considered a finishing nail. Through the ignorance of the American people, Mr. Obama will usher in the final touches of socialism aided by those top socialist democrats in the House and Senate. Most of America is only looking for freebies now. Individualism is gone and group ignorance in place. That is exactly what your new socialist democrats are wanting.
