Spooktacular Halloween events abound

As Halloween nears, bringing with it the traditional Trick or Treat on Thomaston and neighboring streets, several local events are kicking off this weekend in the wake of the annual Dolly Goodpuppy Barks and Boos fundraiser held last Saturday.

As a newcomer to Barnesville, why is Halloween such an important holiday here?

It's no more important than any other holiday. The residents here do like to know everything going on in case we are taking our children so we can pre-plan the same as any other holiday or festival. They did a great job covering it this year actually. Thanks Ms. Ellington!

Hi Annette - I suspect this is more Chamber of Commerce promotion than anything. I don't think Halloween is more important here than in any other town.

By the way - welcome to Barnesville. It really is a great place to live.

I've always loved Halloween, just because the decorations amuse me. And you can have fun without all the family drama other holidays sometimes bring forth.

With all the kids we have around our community and in our community, we just want all to know what's going on and where the kids can have fun and be safe while doing it. Welcome to Barnesville! Hope you' ll love it as much as we do.

It would be nice if there was a schedule to go trick or treating on Thomaston Street. I think the little ones should get to go earlier than the bigger kids. We don't even take our kids to Thomaston Street anymore because it is so crazy, the smaller children get pushed out of the way and ran over by older kids. The churches do such a great job with their trunk or treat, so we just go to the churches.

Thank you for the welcomes. The friendliness of the "natives" is something I do love about the city. We walked around on Halloween evening and I never knew there were so many people in the town. Saw some amazing costumes. LOL@ cats. You must have been near my house on Thanksgivings past. Drama! Now we just eat out.
