The Barnesville BBQ & Blues Festival landed a big promotional fish when Destination America television confirmed it would film an episode of the hit series BBQ Pitmasters during the cookoff here next month.
Jessica Nicola of the Discovery television has confirmed the show will lens an episode here.
Television personalities (l-r) Tuffy Stone, Myron Mixon and Aaron Franklin will be in Barnesville when their show BBQ Pitmasters films an episode during BBQ & Blues 2013. The taping will give the local festival a higher profile and have a positive economic impact on Barnesville-Lamar County, according to festival committee chairman T.J. Imberger.

The litter here is almost as bad as some third world Countries. Look along the roads, it's disgusting and embarrassing. Maybe the schools and County can push "do not litter", or bring more public awareness to the problem.
Joe, pick up a trash bag...walk down the road and pick up some trash...MC, you think Barnesville is bad enough to bad mouth, why don't you go live a few miles south of Brownsville, Texas for a little bit, I guarantee you WILL learn to appreciate our little town.
As a matter of fact, why don't both of you show you're real names so we can see who you are and how involved you are in this community. Step up and get involved, go to the IDA meetings, the County Commissioner's meetings, the City Council meetings; their agendas are published in the paper every month and they will let you sign up to make comments to them. There's also a wonderful class that is taking applications now; its called Leadership Lamar and it will give you real insight into what it takes to make our little community run as smoothly as it does. Go ahead, get involved, maybe you'll be one who can make a difference!
Martha, the biggest difference between you and i is,i dont live in a fantasy world.i see life for what it is.i'm a realist.and barnesville IS one step away from a third world town just like the above mentioned.
