Have you ever seen the Griffin walking track on airport road? That is pleasant and great for exercise. The track is made from recycled rubber and there is bathrooms, kids playground and pretty landscaping with benches, lights and trash cans around the whole track. It is safe, open, inviting and well maintained and cleaned. The Highlander trail in Barnesville is dark, closed in and now looks like someone came in and timber stripped it. that is not pleasant. who wants to walk around and look at all the brush. clean the middle up, plant some flowers, add some benches and open up the challenge course to the public. The powers that be in Barnesville need to get serious about providing some exercise area's for our residents.
The track we have is very nice. I like walking among the trees. Admittedly, the Griffin track is much easier on the ankles since the material has give to it, but it's right out there in the hot sun and there's lots of traffic going by. The playground for kids and the restrooms are nice, though.
Maybe the Summers Field project will offer our town another option.
I've seen deer too, Annette!
Yes! My sister took me to a track one time years ago before I moved here and I remember it was a rubbery surface very easy on my old knees and ankles. She will never take me back there LOL so I would love directions. We both need to get ourselves moving. From Hwy 41 heading to Griffin where would I turn? Before or after the big intersection with Ingles/Waffle House/Rite Aid etc?
Cats you too? :) It's funny how they freeze and you know they are thinking "I'm not here you don't see me..." then they burst away into the woods. I will still use the walking trails and Greenwood Cemetery, but it would be nice to add another option.

Annette, you turn right at that intersection where the rite aid and Ingles are. Then go down to the red light in front of Roses and take a left. that is airport road. the park is about 1/2 mile on the right. Awesome walking track.
