John Gilbert was terminated from his position as recreation director at a 10 a.m. meeting today. County administrator Wayne Patterson said Gilbert was terminated for 'conduct unbecoming a county official'.
Gilbert, known as Papa John to a generation of young athletes, said earlier this week he knew the ax was about to fall.

Both Colbert and Gilbert had their ways, I agree. However, they ALWAYS acted with the kids best interest in mind.
The main deal here is, Patterson and Mathews want folks to bow down to them...they want to be elite. Papa John had the audacity to question these folks.
A splost tax was voted in to support the rec. dept. Patterson witheld those funds. When questioned about it, well....you see what you get. Can't wait for the next election...bye bye Jay Mathews. And Patterson needs to be sent packing back to Clayton County.

With that being said we need to hire a qualified person and let them run this department and not be micro-managed by the yes man Mr. Patterson. It also may be about time for him to return to whince he came.

Mr. Patterson eliminated the questions through a termination.
If this is accurate, and I have no reason to believe it’s not because of the sources I got the information from, this would be a total misuse of the position. If the position is misused then management needs to be fired. The question would then fall on the commissioners and only 2 of them have the integrity to act appropriately.
And to #14, I hear that his hands may have been tied and that may have given you the appearance that things were going down hill. Those downhill trends were some of the things that were being questioned and that helped lead to his termination. You may want to consider the fault was at the upper end of the management tree.
Lots of ppl were unhappy with Truby. I never had an issue with him. I though he was a pretty good guy from what dealings i had with him.

Sometimes when a person has been at a job for a long time, they begin to think they know best about all things. Therefore, they do not pay attention to those they must answer to. I guess you know what happens then.
P.S.By the way, to be a commisioner you really gotta care about what you are doing. Cause you sure aren't doing it for the money ( I spend more money at wal-mart than they make a month. )

Oh, the price to see your child out on a field playing is priceless!! Be thankful your child has somewhere to play. Sports is to teach structure, responsibility, morals, communication, how to get along with others, and so on....Thank god they have somewhere to learn these things. The Democrats and Republicans all had a hand in the most recent failures, it's very tough to say which group was worse. Looking at it objectively both are equally at fault.
Once we are in a recession the only way out is for the Government to spend. If you look at the graph you'll see the big Government spending of WW II pulled us out of a big downturn (recession/depression).
The reason Government has to spend to get us out is that individuals are not spending. Thank Obama for spending when needed. Thank Regan and Bush sr and little baby Bush GW for spending when NOT needed.
