Marshall T. Hooks of Dawson has been hired as president of the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. He was one of two candidates called back for a second interview and the chamber board voted unanimously Dec. 19 to offer him the job which he accepted.
I will bet someone that he does not stay at this job more than three years and thats pushing it. He will get experience and then he will gone to bigger and brighter things. I know that the board had qualified candidates from the local area that may not have all his education ut would have put their heart and soul in the job and stayed with it.
On the other hand I wish him well.
Congratulations! Marshall and B-LC Chamber! Sounds like you have a real winner! I wish you all the best! It will be great if he stays 3 years and we should never begrudge someone making decisions that improve their lives; even if it does mean leaving us. Sometimes the longer someone stays in a job the harder it becomes to come up with new ideas. I see this as especially true when there are nay-sayers about that beat down every new idea that comes along with a one-sided biased viewpoint! You just ignore that last part Marshall; you will do great and we are glad to have you!
