Sometime during the day Wednesday, barnesville.com surpassed the one million mark in pageviews for 2009.

As of this posting, the site has recorded 1,009,914 pageviews since January 1, 2009. According to Google analytics, barnesville.com has had 58,543 visitors during that time period who logged 267,475 visits.

I personally want to thank everyone who has visited barnesville.com.

It has been a labor of love for the team here at The Herald-Gazette and although the past three months have involved much change and transition, it has been a great ride.

I am glad that Sheila takes the time to write as much as she does. She is a very good educational & smart writer!! I love her comments weather commical or serious. There is always a meaning behind everyone of her statements.......Many just don't get them!! What a same......Life goes on.........

what's the deal with all those moderator postings. sounds like somebody is pissed about something. are we about to have a bunch of rule changes or something.

No Ralph. There are not about to be a lot of rule changes. It has come to our attention that many who post on the threads have not bothered to read the rules of posting including not using profanity and refraining from slander or defamation of character through posting. It was a simple reminder to remain somewhat courteous and altogether respectful.

Agree. Some of the slanderous posts, profane posts, & racial overtone posts need to be deleted by the moderators. I was wondering how long it would take before some of the garbage would be taken to the dump. The quality of the message board is dependent upon the discretion of the moderators. A huge, and time-consuming job, but a necessary one.

No need for moderation really. Just because someones name is mentioned when making factual statements, doesnt mean that it should be deleted. Just because one has an opinion about something, or someone doesnt mean that it should be deleted unless it is a threat to a particular person. JMO

People sometimes use freedom of speech as a license to not use common sense.

A good example of an out-of-control idiot session with no redeeming value was that old blog that disappeared after the last election.

The best guideline is to never say anything on a blog you would not say in person.
