Lamar County schools have enrolled 2,676 students, including 739 at the primary school, 590 elementary students, 605 middle schoolers and 742 at the high school.
“All schools have seen an increase in enrollment the last few days,” said superintendent Dr. Jute Wilson. “It’s encouraging to see several students enrolling from private schools, home schools, returning from out of county and requesting enrollment from out of the county. I believe the word is getting out that the Lamar County school system provides an excellent educational experience for all students.” There were 134 Pre-K students as of Aug. 7 after the number of local preschool slots was increased.
