Maybe the Koran prohibits their enjoyment.
I have to commend Walter on such a fine article. Since I have been reading the “Geiger Counter” I have convinced myself that he doesn’t really feel the way he does about some things he writes. For example, the 900 million people of the world Islamic community. I remember reading some time back in the “Counter” how Walter was really impressed with some undocumented Hispanic gentlemen workers when he was visiting friends while out of town. I choose to believe he’s too smart and compassionate to entertain such negative views and that they are just thrown out there to stimulate viewer ship. At least I hope I right. Am I?
I believe in all societies there are the confused, the mentally unbalanced, the subjective or naïve, the dangerously obsessed or idealistic, the phobic and the extreme narcissistic. I very much believe that most everyone wants the same things in life but goes about it very differently or very poorly. So many choose a dead end path, and never find what they so desire. This is usually expressed in the silent rage that countless try so hard to conceal in their persona, yet breaks out in times of stress. This is why good people are capable of doing some very stupid things and usually ends up hurting the innocent in the process.
Above all, I believe in the inherent good in all people. I truly consider this as what Christ concluded, as well as, innumerable others in history who also aspired to a higher vision. Christ said on the cross, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do”. That is why I say that ignorance is the only true sin. Our vigilance to move forward and forgive the mistakes of the past is our only hope for this world we call Earth.
