Pike County deputies and other authorities are investigating an apparent home invasion at 560 Caldwell Bridge Rd. near Concord July 1 in which a man was reportedly shot to death and his wife savagely beaten.
Pike County coroner Terrell Moody identified the dead man as 60-year-old Jimmie (Buzz) Burousas Jr., son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr.

Authorities probing Caldwell Bridge Rd. killing
His wife Teresa was badly beaten and airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta but was able to talk to investigators. Teresa Burousas is the daughter of Pike County commission chairman Doug Mangham. She is expected to recover.
Pike sheriff Jimmie Thomas said his office was called to the scene at 4:30 p.m. and Mr. Burousas was dead in his vehicle at the end of the driveway. Mrs. Burousas was found in her yard where she was apparently working. She and her dogs were reportedly attacked with a tire iron and hammer.
Sheriff Thomas said information given his investigators by Teresa Burousas and others led to a lookout for two men who may be driving a late 90s model white Pontiac Trans Am.
One is a black male about six feet tall with a large build who was wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt. The other is a white male, 5-8 to 5-10 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and was wearing a black t-shirt with a white graphic design on the front.

Joining Pike investigators on the scene were personnel from the GBI crime lab and the Griffin circuit district attorneys office. Burousas' body was taken to the state crime lab for autopsy.
The attack took place less than a quarter mile from sheriff Thomas' home.

He is a very dedicated man,not only to his job but to his family.
I live in Barnesville and wished we had a man such as Jimmy running our county. Know someone before you talk about them.
To #3 remember it was late in the afternoon when all this happened,why would he need a hairbrush? He is a very good-looking man, wished our sheriff was that handsome.
There are alot of unanswered questions in this case,but I assure you Jimmy and all of his fine men are right on with the investigation.
I'll almost bet who did it will be a big shock to us all. Buzz knows who did this,but he can't tell us,but God will surely lead the sheriff's office to the arrest and I'm sure we will all be shocked or maybe we won't. Meanwhile keep comments about Jimmy to yourself and stop judging people.
I had rather had a good honest and qualified man such as Sheriff Thomas than a speaker as they are a time a dozen.
I'm happy that the sheriff is not giving out too much information, as that should never be done anyway. How many murderers have gone free, due to big mouths yapping. No matter what happens, God is in control and wether we see justice happen or not, it will happen.
I will be in prayer for the Burousas family.
