Pike County deputies and other authorities are investigating an apparent home invasion at 560 Caldwell Bridge Rd. near Concord July 1 in which a man was reportedly shot to death and his wife savagely beaten.

Pike County coroner Terrell Moody identified the dead man as 60-year-old Jimmie (Buzz) Burousas Jr., son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr.

Sheriff Thomas didn't have his hairbrush out, he was not ready to address the media.

This story came to me personally b/c I was such a lucky person to have worked with Buzz for many years. I have had many one to one conversations with Buzz. He was a very smart individual and had a lot to offer life. It is so sad bc he had not been married to his wife for a yr or two. My husband and Buzz were also very close and talked about politics very often. Now Buzz will be up in Heaven with my husband continuing these conversations. I so hope my husband came to great Buzz as he came across those big pearly gates of Heaven. My heart is heavy tonight...I pray that his wife recovers and that they find these ppl and they get what they deserve to do such a horrible thing to this nice family!! What is happening to this world?? I do not understand why we have got so many evil ppl in the world?? I will be up all night crying for this family and the remembrance of my wonderful husband in heaven.
May God be with each and everyone of us tonight...May he reach down and touch those that need your hand to lift them up....For those that have been lead in the wrong direction, that they can find their way back to you Lord!! Please lay a hand on this family and take all of their suffering away from them. Please help find these ppl that done this to this wonderful family. Be with us all Lord as we read this and hope that
many heart turn to you in healing and in faith!! Lord you are our Savior!! ~^~

Yes, they hadn't been married long. Teresa waited a long time to find a great guy. My heart is so heavy.

Today, my heart is broken for this wonderful family. I was priviledged to have worked with Buzz for about a year. During that time, I found out what a great human being he was. He spoke lovingly of his wife, Teresa, and how glad he was to find her. His parents depended on him as they are quite elderly. I know their heart is broken so badly. They need our prayers and support today. It is my earnest prayer that the criminals will be found quickly and brought to a swift justice.

He worked in controls as a temp for about a year.

You probably don't even know Jimmy Thomas.
He is a very dedicated man,not only to his job but to his family.
I live in Barnesville and wished we had a man such as Jimmy running our county. Know someone before you talk about them.
To #3 remember it was late in the afternoon when all this happened,why would he need a hairbrush? He is a very good-looking man, wished our sheriff was that handsome.
There are alot of unanswered questions in this case,but I assure you Jimmy and all of his fine men are right on with the investigation.
I'll almost bet who did it will be a big shock to us all. Buzz knows who did this,but he can't tell us,but God will surely lead the sheriff's office to the arrest and I'm sure we will all be shocked or maybe we won't. Meanwhile keep comments about Jimmy to yourself and stop judging people.

Yeah I think it's going to be a BIG shock to us when the truth comes out......there is some major cover up going on in Pike county right now and I hope Sheriff Thomas gets through the B.S. and takes care of business.

you have to forgive him... he has not had as much practice as LCSO has had at speaking to the public about crimes... That says it all in a nutshell... yall can have the good public speakers... I'll take our crime rate over Lamar County's any day...

Jimmy Thomas is well educated. Public speaking is not a requirement to be a sheriff in Georgia althought it don't hurt to be able to spead the manure well as we have seen in our own presidential race this past year.

I had rather had a good honest and qualified man such as Sheriff Thomas than a speaker as they are a time a dozen.

I was blessed to know Buzz. I have known him for 26 years, but had not seen him in a very long time. I worked with him many years ago in Newnan. He was a very friendly and a kind hearted man. I pray that they catch the person that killed him.

I'm happy that the sheriff is not giving out too much information, as that should never be done anyway. How many murderers have gone free, due to big mouths yapping. No matter what happens, God is in control and wether we see justice happen or not, it will happen.

I will be in prayer for the Burousas family.

If you people have a problem with Barnesville or Lamar County, then MOVE! Nobody is making you live here....just MOVE!...If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all! ..... Hey Karen at 7.1, if you are so infatuated with Jimmy Thomas, then move to Pike County! As the ol'saying goes "Beauty is only skin deep!" and I don't believe beauty makes a Sheriff do his job any better or any worse! I really do not understand why you said what you said as it makes no sense!

I agree - and I think we have a mighty good sheriff here, too. I think Sheriff Thomas is a good man, too. Some people are just going to rattle junk around to make themselves think they know a lot more than they do.

We all know who did this. It's just a matter of time. From the outside looking in, things just don't add up. They just don't add up. Just wait and see what I'm telling you. Just wait and see.
