A recent Associated Press hit job on Sarah Palin on apnews.myway.com by Rachel D'Oro, obviously no fan of the governor, refers to her as "the controversial hockey mom," several times referring to her as "controversial."

Whatever her political future, the emergence of Sarah Palin raises questions that will not soon go away. What does it say about the nature of modern American politics that a public official who often seems proud of what she does not know is not only accepted but applauded? What does her prominence say about the importance of having (or lacking) a record of achievement in public life? Why did so many skilled veterans of the Republican Party—long regarded as the more adroit team in presidential politics—keep loyally working for her election even after they privately realized she was casual about the truth and totally unfit for the vice-presidency? Perhaps most painful, how could John McCain, one of the cagiest survivors in contemporary politics—with a fine appreciation of life’s injustices and absurdities, a love for the sweep of history, and an overdeveloped sense of his own integrity and honor—ever have picked a person whose utter shortage of qualification for her proposed job all but disqualified him for his?
political leader for the country. We need people that
have good values and good leadership for our America.
Palin never had it easy. I think we can all agree on that. The 45-year-old governor was plucked out of relative (and freshman politico) by Sen. John McCain to be his running mate last year. Since that time she has faced intense scrutiny for every move she made. Pundits found fault in her clothing, her eye glasses, her parenting skills, her seeming lack of intelligence, and her heritage.
Though her initial acceptance speech (for vice presidential candidacy) drew rave reviews, her subsequent shaky performance in network news interviews, the drama surrounding her 18-year-old daughter's pregnancy and two ethics probes into her earlier firing of the state's public safety director dogged her throughout the rest of the campaign. She was the GOP whipping boy, so to speak. In some ways she was the national spotlight for the Republicans last great stand. Granted McCain was up for presidency the media chose instead to have as a title match Palin -vs- Obama. You can only imagine the criticism this drew from the dems and their love of Hilary...or rather Bill...or whatever they loved about the Clinton family.
Palin has carried a lot of weight on her shoulders in recent months. She has noticeably aged. She has become the butt of not-so-tasteful jokes. She has fallen victim to back taxes, inappropriate spending, etc.
But what she hasn't done (and what I look forward to hearing about next in Palin's life and career) is her tenacity, dedication, and passion. She is not the brightest. As a politician she can surround herself with the best of the best. She can offset her shortcomings. She is not the most seasoned veteran. I'm sorry. Obama has what political record? She is not perfect. Show me someone who is.
She made a decision to step down. I applaud her for that bravery and I hope that she did it with a clean conscious and with a desire to come back stronger than ever.
I am not liberal at all. I made no rude comments about Palin. In fact, I think I defended her quite well. She has said on more than two occasions that she is not the most adept at public speaking nor is she cognizant of international world events. I was not at all sexist and I am still wondering what basis you founded that remark on. My words also were not borderline ignorant either.
My notion of her aging was to address that the path she has been down the last year has been hard and has it aesthetically taken its toll on her. It would take its toll on anyone, to be sure. I can remember seeing the physical change in Clinton from election night to his 100th day in office. Oh, and just to call you on it, yes, I have spoken to her in person. (I'll be you didn't expect that answer). I met her at a press lunch in Savannah the first week of December last year.
I am watching my tongue. Thank you for the reminder though and the 'inspection' of my comments.
I would not say I am a poor judge of character. I do, however, call a spade a spade and from my personal experience that is what I gathered. I will say she is smart enough to know when enough is enough and she has the intelligence to say goodbye before costing herself, her family, and the taxpayers any more.
Her accomplishments are notable, if you must. She is the first female governor of Alaska. She chaired the AOGCC. She was the first female, vice-presidential candidate for the GOP. As a mayor she cut cut property taxes by about 75%. She was president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. As the gov. she has seen approval ratings hovering near 70%. She refused a pay raise from the Alaska state commission. The list goes on. She has a good record and has been good for Alaska.
In regards to her aging. I obviously wasn't clear. The stress of being governor has physically aged her as it would any man that served in that role. I didn't not say that she was an ugly woman because of the stress of her job. My comment could be seen as agism or biased due to age but it couldn't fall under sexism at all. You saying that for a woman who has birthed 5 kids she looks pretty darned good is more sexist. What would you say if it were Mr. Palin? Would he look pretty darn good for being father of 5?
Your friend,
Andy
Has someone threaten her or her children?
Most pundits say that by resigning she is losing any chance of a future career in politics to which she responds, "If I die, I die."
could contain a virus.
If you get an email titled "nude photos of Nancy Pelosi,"
don't open it. It could contain nude photos of Nancy
Pelosi.
She cannot help the intelligence she was not born with, but a person in public service with designs on national office has NO EXCUSE for being as totally clueless and ignorant of world affairs (and other pertinent issues) as Palin proved she was during the election. That is the real issue.
And to quit on the job she was elected to do because it got too tough, because she can't deal with the scandals? We all know Federal office would come with much greater pressure and much more attacks from the other side--just look at what Clinton went through without running, or even Bush (incompetent as he was) did not run away. She needs a little thicker skin than she has shown cutting and running from the Governorship of Alaska. And for an explanation she said it is for the good of the state.
My first thought was someone has something big on her and forced her out. Still believe that might come out at later date. Otherwise, why would anyone quit an elected position like that without any reason right up front. It was weird to say the least. Now we hear it's all the ethics issues with her--and they are of course not true.
Most people in her position would not back down if they were innocent of wrongdoing. Maybe she has done nothing wrong-although that is unlikely.
So if she is not guilty of wrongdoing, then her resignation admits she is not competent to get the job done even if it is difficult.
Either way she doesn't come across looking too good.
The press has not let up on her since the election, which tells me she is a threat to their liberal ideas.
I dont blame her for getting out of the limelight, there is probably still some mud-bogs the press would like to drag her thru, so the heat will be on her and not Obama.
Personally I have problems with politicians having immediate answers for all questions. She was honest and didnt have an answer for all questions. The idiots of the liberal press banged her as hard as they could.
There is an old saying, You can have all the answers, even if you dont know the questions.
It irritates me that women can't rally behind other women.
What we do know now, without any doubt, is Palin is a quitter.
We know she was able to energize the great hate-machinery. We know she was sometimes unable to respond adequately to simple basic questions.
We also know she is a quitter.
You can't always read a book by it's cover...Open it up and take a look in sometimes. You might find that there is more to the story then let known by the public.......

Actors, good looking males, war heroes, wrestlers, an educated and well spoken black males, successful business women, comedians, athletes, celebrities, preachers, very successful business men and in the case of Gov. Sarah Palin……… An ambitious, witty and educated Christian hockey Mom with a well turned heal.
It should have been obvious to anybody that Gov. Palin was out of her league in the race for the White House.
Now, addressing lady that said Jesus is black, what Bible do you read? I ask you that because my Bible says he is not black, but Jewish. If Jesus was black that certainly would not offend me in any way, I'm just interested in maintaining the in integrity of the Bible.
Sarah is a DUMB s**t, and John was even DUMBER for thinking she would heat up his potential young white voters. We wanted change too bad it didn't come sooner.
2/23/09- Obama claims that he does not believe in bigger government. On 2/24/09 (the next day) he proposed a budget with the biggest increase in the size of government ever.
3/19/09- Obama misreads his teleprompter and says “ I would like to thank president Obama for inviting everyone to the white house”. lol. That line actually belonged to Brian Cowen.
(unsure of the date) At a memorial speech Obama says “ We are here to honor those who have fallen in wars for this country and I see some of them standing here today.”
(unsure of date) Obama claims “I have been to oh, 57 states so far and I still have a few to go.”
(unsure of date) Obama- “As commander OF chief…..”
7/22/08 - Obama- "Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under a McCain...administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.
(unsure of the date) Obama- In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed." --on a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people
That's all I got to say lisa ray.......
