Sheriff's investigators continue to probe what neighbors are calling a home invasion that occurred in the 1800 block of Highway 36 East in Milner July 16 and left an elderly man with head injuries.

Why, he was a black man - the police and public have to have accurate information to arrest this thug! In this case, the story states the home invader was a black man. It would seem a little odd to put an Asian man on there wouldn't it?
Maybe a compromise could be reached and a photo of a rainbow and butterflies could be posted.

I have now changed the image. There is nothing racist about it. It is a generic image borrowed from a news program in Washington State with their permission. I hope all is well on the site now.

Ofcourse all is not well on this site. They will continue to spew this racism crap all the time. It gets real old people. Are some of you saying that an image of a random person or scene cannot be posted unless it is the exact photo of the person commiting the crime. You all even fussed when LC and Narcotics busted ppl all day long a few weeks or months ago. There was a black man (that was busted) on the cover of the story. OH well. Get a life and quit looking for a race card to play. You fussed about Tamps pic up all the time. You fuss about everything. Find one topic where there was a white man gets caught for something and ppl fuss about the white persons image on there. This is the most stupidest thing ive heard. No he's not alright. He was beaten in his head with force several times, kicked in his side and now fighting for his life in an Atlanta hospital. He is in ICU and had to undergo emergency surgery for bleeding on the brain. So Lamar County does his skin color still matter? No it doesn't. It's about an 89 year old man who had nothing bad to say about anyone, and if you passed his house and he happened to be sitting on the porch he had a wave for you no matter what color your skin was and that's how it should be. So please PRAY for Mr. Barkley.

I can not believe the people of Barnesville can be so rude. No one seems to care of the condition of the black person. I drive by that house every Sunday going to church and it saddens me to know that some low life would do such a horrid crime to an elderly gentleman, whether black or white. We are all one in Christ and he is hurting just as bad as some white person. It alarms me that people could care so less and not to think of his condition. And we are supposed to be a "loving, caring" community. It doesn't show here.

All of the violent crimes being committed around Barnesville lately are getting out of hand. For the record both my wife and myself are armed and we keep our doors locked and weapons within reach even in the house. We are also familiar with the legal requirements for the use of deadly force. If you come to my house unannounced don't be surprised if you're greeted by a hot tempered white woman with an AK-47. With that being said, it's a shame that the world has become so violent that this is necessary. Especially in one's own home where you are supposed to feel safe. But again a warning to all criminals black, white, red, green or any color. IF YOU COME INTO MY HOME UNINVITED IT WILL BE THE LAST THING YOU EVER DO!!!!

I called the county to my house a couple of weeks ago because someone was in my yard. It took them 25 min. to get there and I live less than 5 miles from town. THEY COME BACK IN MY YARD AT 4 AM I KNOW THEY WILL STILL BE THERE WHEN THE COUNTY ARRIVES. I HAVE A 9 MM 16 SHOT AND ALTHOUGH I MAY NOT BE THE BEST SHOT AROUND ONE OF THE ROUNDS WOULD SHURLEY HIT THE TARGET.

Mr. Barkley is Black. I know his niece, she is a very good friend of mine, and they are very fine upstanding residents of Lamar County. Statistics show that black against black crime is at the highest level. I am not a raciest….I am not prejudiced…I believe that all people are equal. This is not a racist issue but crime in Barnesville has exploded. Every effort to describe the person doing this should be in as full of detail as possible.

I am totally shocked this could happen to Mr Barkley. For those who don't know him, he is as good as gold and a nice as person as you can meet or know.
