Mary T. Salvatore Dziedzic, 88, died Wednesday Dec. 29, 2010. Services were held Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, Conn., to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Calling hours were held Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 pound mixed mushrooms
1 pound Swiss chard, stemmed and coarsely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons butter
A drizzle honey
Heat the olive oil, 3 turns of the pan, in large skillet over medium-high heat. Coarsely chop mushrooms and add to the pan, toss for 2 to 3 minutes then add the greens to wilt. Season with salt and pepper. Dress greens with lemon juice then toss with butter as it melts to form a sauce. Drizzle a little honey over the greens and serve. [Full Story »]
Between Saturday, Dec. 18, and Friday, Dec. 24, the Lamar County sheriff’s office made the following arrests:
Kevin Roy Pippin, 38, Culloden, aggravated battery, obstructing or hindering a 911 call, false imprisonment, two counts family violence battery, two counts terroristic threats and acts and aggravated assault;
Ernesto Lopez-Herrera, 33, Barnesville, DUI alcohol;
Brandon Chase Lynch, 19, Milner, obstruction of an officer;
Jeremy Michael Reeves, 35, Morgan, probation violation;
Jennifer Marie Medders, 28, Jackson, under investigation;
James Lofton Busby III, 34, Jackson, possession, sale, purchase or manufacture of methamphetamine, drugs not in original container, driving while license suspended or revoked, tag violation, no proof of insurance, obstruction of an officer and possession of drug-related object.
Deputies answered 102 calls and the 911 center answered 75. Deputies responded to 19 calls, the Barnesville police department responded to 21, Lamar County fire department to 20, Barnesville fire department to one and Mid Georgia Ambulance to 35.
There were 11 accidents. Deputies issued 23 traffic citations and served 18 warrants and eight subpoenas or civil papers. [Full Story »]
Between Saturday, Dec. 18 and Friday, Dec. 24, the Barnesville police department made two arrests:
Robert Darnell, 346 Forsyth St., Barnesville, theft by receiving stolen property and theft by conversion;
Clyde Lyons, 315 Jackson St., Barnesville, warrant out of Bibb County.
Officers answered 71 calls for service including four accidents, three alarms, two assists, 26 building security checks, two burglaries, one criminal trespass, one disturbance, two dog complaints, three domestics, nine escorts, one fraud, one harassment, one loud music, two miscellaneous, three prowlers, one stolen vehicle, two suspicious persons/vehicles, four thefts and three 911 hang up calls. Ryan and Jessica Ross of Griffin announce the birth of their son, Kaplan Ry Ross, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at 12:29 a.m. at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
He weighed six pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.
He joins a sister, Abigail White, age 2.
Maternal grandparents are Robert and Angela Bagwell of Yatesville.
Paternal grandparents are Gordon and Marqua Ross of Griffin.

Adam and Tai Fossett of Sylacauga, Ala. announce the birth of their son, Benjamin Adam Fossett, on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at 12:23 p.m., at St. Vincent's Hospital, Birmingham, Ala.
He weighed nine pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 1⁄2 inches long.
He joins brother, Max Fossett, 18 months.
Maternal grandparents are Susan and Roger Alexander of Sylacauga, Ala. Maternal great-grandparents are Adeliaide Mayfield and the late Maxwell Mayfield and the late L.G. and Rachel Alexander, all of Sylacauga, Ala.
Paternal grandparents are Vickie and Robert Fossett of Barnesville. Paternal great-grandparents are Buddy and Pam Cagle of Barnesville and the late James Barry and Mary Ellen Fossett and the late Barbara S. Cagle.
