The Internal Revenue Service is looking for 4,200 Georgia taxpayers who are due refund checks worth more than $5 million. The checks were returned to the IRS by the U.S. Postal Service due to mailing address errors.

The votes are in. They’ve been tallied. And there’s a new winner. According to the latest Gallup Poll, more Americans now consider themselves conservative (40%) than moderate (36%), or liberal (20%). Two recent Rasmussen Polls demonstrate important trends as well: 59% of Americans are angrier now than during the Bush presidency and 58% of Americans believe politics had an influence on the awarding of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. These polls suggest that, finally, America is beginning to come to its senses. Thank God.
However, these polls suggest something more subtle though nevertheless vital with regard to America’s future – the power of party affiliation.

Playing their most inspired football in weeks, the Lamar County Trojans defeated the Manchester Blue Devils 28-27 Friday night at Trojan Field to clinch second place in Region 5AA.
The win means Lamar County will host a first round playoff game at Trojan Field next week. Their opponent will be the North Oconee Titans from Bogart. The Titans opened the season with seven straight wins but lost their last three, including a loss Friday night to Fannin County 17-7. They are the third place team from Region 8AA. The Titans are averaging 26 ppg and giving up only 11 ppg.
A win over North Oconee would propel the Trojans to a second round game on the road at Calhoun provided the undefeated Yellow Jackets get past 6-4 Avondale in the first round of postseason play. Calhoun's go to guy is five star, division 1 recruit Da'Rick Rogers who is committed to UGA.

Griffin police officer Chad Moxon, a Lamar County resident, has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who kidnapped and killed his partner Jimi.
Jimi was a well trained K-9 officer with the Griffin PD.

There has been an addition reward offered by The Atlanta Humane Society of $5,000.00 for any valid tip leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Griffin Police Department K-9 “Jimi”. This is funded by the Holland M. Ware Charitable Fund.

From flight deck to crew quarters, the L(anding) P(latform) D(ock)s are the most advanced sea-faring machines in terms of design and technology, effectively replacing four older classes of amphibious landing craft.
This modern-day behemoth is 111 feet longer than her battleship namesake. She will carry sea-based platforms, including:
* The V-22 tilt-rotor Osprey aircraft
* Three types of helicopters
* 14 expeditionary fighting vehicles (EFVs) and/or several air-cushioned landing craft (LCACs) for across-the-beach deployments of U.S. Marine Corps and Special Forces personnel.
The Lamar County Middle School Trojans defeated the Carver Road Eagles Wednesday 20-6 to take the Central Georgia Middle School Athletic League football championship. The game was played at Memorial Stadium in Griffin.
The Trojans started strong as Lance Austin returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Lamar's attempt at a two-point conversion failed and the Trojans led 6-0.
