As well as it has done on the field, the Trojans have struggled with coin tosses. They lost again Saturday morning and will travel to Calhoun for the GHSA Class AA football semifinals this week.
UPDATE: Once again, a spectator bus for adults will be chartered for the long trip to northwest Georgia. The cost per person is $25. Students may ride the spirit bus for $10.
Superintendent Dr. Bill Truby reports each school gets 1000 tickets and tickets will be on sale at LCCHS this week for $15. The ticket office at the Calhoun stadium will open at 5 p.m. Friday for a 7:30 kickoff.
The stadium address for your GPS is 315 South River St., Calhoun, Ga. The Trojan team bus will leave the high school around noon on Friday. Dr. Truby anticipates a fine sendoff for them with signs along the road and throughout the school system facilities.
With a narrow, six-point lead and facing fourth and nine at the opposition's 34-yard line, Lamar head coach Franklin Stephens dialed up at shot to the endzone and connected. Lance Austin hit twin brother Lawrence Austin behind a completely fooled Lovett secondary and Lamar went on to hold on for a 35-28 win in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA state football playoffs Friday night in Atlanta.
NEXT WEEK: Lamar will face Calhoun, which routed Brooks County 49-7, Friday next week. A coin toss will be conducted to determine the home team. Lamar has never been to the semifinals. "You made history tonight," Stephens told his team on the field at Lovett after the hard fought win.

Yet again this week I had to write the story I have written far too many times previously the story of a child dead following a four-wheeler crash. This time it was a 15-year-old girl with a lifetime of promise ahead of her. According to the coroner, she was going too fast, not wearing a helmet and making jumps on a powerful four-wheeler.

Tickets to Friday's Class AA state quarterfinal game at Lovett may be purchased at the high school office beginning Wednesday and continuing through Friday at 1 pm. Tickets are $12 per the GHSA with no discounts.
Also, you may still reserve a seat on the spectator buses at the high school office. Seats on the adult only charter bus are $20 while seats on the student only school bus are $10. Payment is due at the time reservations are made. This does not include the price of game tickets. The buses will begin loading at 4:30 Friday and leave the high school at five o'clock.

The Gordon State College Chorus and Vocal Ensemble will present a program of holiday favorites and other selections Thursday evening.
The concert will be held in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus and begins at 7:30. It is free and the public is invited.
