The City of Barnesville was awarded $500,000 in Equity Grant funding today, according to Gov. Sonny Perdue.

The funds will be used for water system infrastructure to support the Piedmont Green Power project off MLK bypass near its intersection with Gordon Road. [Full Story »]

A man was struck by a hit and run driver at 597 Piedmont Road Wednesday night at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies are searching for the assailant who is driving a 1987-1991 Ford F-150. The vehicle is thought to be a light color with primer spots. The truck will show damage on the passenger side from the door to the taillight. It will, however, be missing the taillight as it was damaged in the wreck and left on scene. Robert Neal Devane has won the ward four city council runoff election 112-97.

Results will be certified later in the week. There are five provisional ballots but those will not impact the outcome.

Only 212 voters cast ballots, a turnout of 28.6%.
