Lamar County sheriff Larry Waller remains in the Macon Medical Center where he is receiving treatment after suffering a possible stroke July 8.

Lisa Goddard of Little Children of the World (LCOW), the charitable agency run by the sheriff's wife Glenna Waller, reported Thursday morning that Larry Waller may not be released for at least another 48 hours. [Full Story »]

It’s called the “Wall of Heroes.” On it are the names of some of the US service members killed in action in this part of Afghanistan. Mostly young, their ages range from 19 to 39. Among the names are men and women, all of whom were sons and daughters, and many of whom were fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, best friends to someone back home.

Jimmie (Buzz) Burousas Jr., a Barnesville native, was apparently shot and killed in the driveway of his Concord home in Pike County July 1.

Burousas was the son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr. and his wife, Bobbie.

No arrests in the case had been made at presstime Monday. [Full Story »]

The Highway 411 roadside in Tennessee was adorned last week with fireworks stands. It was like one of those multi-state yard sales along the same route but, in this instance, all the tents sold fireworks. [Full Story »]
