The Lamar County High School baseball team will host its annual "Meet The Trojan Night" this Saturday at 6 p.m. The event, which will take place at The Gathering Place will cap off a full day of events as the Diamond Trojan middle school, junior varsity and varsity players, who will be determined after a tryout period this week, will have a team breakfast and picture day Saturday morning.

Lamar County hosts Monticello Friday night as the Trojans celebrate Senior Night in Thunder Alley. The Trojans are undefeated at 9-0 and 7-0 in Region 4-AA where they claimed the championship with last week's win at Greene County. The Hurricanes are 4-5 overall and 3-4 in region play having won three of their last four games. Lamar is averaging 39.2 points per game while yielding 11.6.

The murder trial of Teresa Burousas was completed Tuesday in Pike superior court with Judge Quillian Baldwin on the bench. He found her guilty of voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in commission of a crime. Burousas was sentenced to 20 years with 10 years to serve in prison and 10 years on probation with credit for the two years she has already served.
