Heavy rains pounded Barnesville-Lamar County Wednesday night and all day Thursday, Christmas Eve, resulting in flash flooding and one home fire sparked by a lightning strike.
At one point Upson County was under a tornado warning. That twister remained aloft and apparently never touched down.
Heavy rain is expected through about 10 p.m. Christmas Eve before it starts diminishing. Flooding will remain a problem. If you don't have to get out, stay home and do not drive. Conditions are treacherous. [Full Story »]
The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating 30 year old Christine L. Ruschmeier also known as Christine Green. Christine is a white female standing 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. Christine has blue eyes and blonde hair but she changes hair colors to red, blue and other assorted colors. Christine also has numerous tattoos, one of a fish on her right arm and one of Tweety Bird on her left arm.
She was last seen on July 15, 2015 in Spalding County, anyone who may know the whereabouts of Christine is asked to call the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office at 770-467-4282 or your local Law Enforcement Agency.
Students who scored in higher percentages on former tests did not “suddenly get dumber” as a result of Georgia Milestones scoring, said Lamar schools superintendent Dr. Jute Wilson.
“They have been asked to clear a higher bar,” he said. “The Milestones have four levels, each defined as designations that shift the focus away from just test scores; instead, capturing the progression of students’ learning.”
