The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the E.P. Roberts Center. After the event, refreshments will be served and sponsored by the Dewaine T. Bell Difference Makers.
The event will again have the theme “Unity in the Community” with a focus on “Keeping the Dream Alive Through the Dream of Reviving our Youth.”
“The community is invited to join the celebration,” said organizer April Smith.
“People and groups may take part in the parade by marching, driving a car or riding on a float.” The celebration will begin at the EPRC. Participants will march to the Lamar County courthouse for a short program to honor Dr. King then march back to the center to continue the celebration.
