Grand jury is in session this week
The cases against alleged killers Jennifer Clark and Kenneth Michael Yost will go before the Lamar County grand jury this week. The grand jury was empaneled Monday.
Clark and Yost are charged with murder. They allegedly beat Clark's ex-husband Donald Clark to death with a metal baseball bat last November and dumped his body in a Redbone cornfield where it was found on Christmas Eve 2008. [Full Story »]

Culloden man charged with child molestation
A Culloden man was arrested August 31 and charged with child molestation and other sex abuse charges after allegedly plying teenage girls with drugs and alcohol and assaulting them.

Georgia State Patrol post 44 in Forsyth investigated 10 traffic crashes during August in Lamar County. The accidents resulted in five injuries and three deaths.

Life or death? Decision possible this week
A decision as to whether or not the death penalty will be sought for alleged killer Ronald Eugene Smith could come as early as this week.
Smith is scheduled to appear before Judge Tommy Wilson Wednesday at 9 a.m. for an announcement in his case. District attorney Richard Milam may announce at that time whether he will seek the death penalty for the alleged Grove Street shooter.

Car chase ends when vehicle overturns
Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate a wreck involving an overturned late model Chevy 4-door Blazer.
According to Captain Todd Pippin of Lamar Co. Sheriff's Office, officer Brandon Goins and his partner attempted to pull the vehicle over on I-75 for improper lane change and for having no license plate on either the front or rear of the vehicle.
