Pike County deputies and other authorities are investigating an apparent home invasion at 560 Caldwell Bridge Rd. near Concord July 1 in which a man was reportedly shot to death and his wife savagely beaten.
Pike County coroner Terrell Moody identified the dead man as 60-year-old Jimmie (Buzz) Burousas Jr., son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr.

Abreu deemed incompetent; ordered institutionalized
Former Barnesville municipal judge Henry Abreu has been deemed unfit to stand trial and unfit to assist his legal counsel following a court-ordered mental evaluation.

GSP report
Georgia State Patrol post 44 in Forsyth investigated 11 crashes in May in Lamar County. The accidents resulted in 18 injuries. Troopers issued 45 citations in the county last month including 27 speeding and five seat belt violations. They issued 47 warnings.
