Yvonne Blackmon McDaniel
Mrs. Yvonne Blackmon McDaniel, 79, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017. She was a native of Yatesville and had lived her adult life in Barnesville. She was predeceased by her parents, Luke and Novella Flowers Blackmon, and her husband Vernon Glenn McDaniel. Mrs. McDaniel was retired from Carters Mill.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry (& Steve) McDaniel Able of Canton; son, Dennis (Lisa) McDaniel of Fayetteville; grandchildren; Jessica McDaniel of Fayetteville, Austin (Sara) Able of Dawsonville and Brandon (Chelsey) Able of Canton; 3 great grandchildren, Barrett Able, Brantley Able and Braxton Able.

Jerry Herndon
Mr. Jerry Herndon, age 67, of Barnesville, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his home. Mr. Herndon was born April 12, 1950, in Thomaston, son of the late Joe Brown and Flossie Gertrude Boyt Herndon. He was a member of Providence First Baptist Church in Williamson, sang in three gospel groups and formerly played in a band at the VFW. Mr. Herndon was retired from J. M. Trucking Company and was formerly employed at Continental General Tire. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mary B. Duffee
Mrs. Mary B. Duffee, age 80, of Milner, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Duffee was born October 22, 1936 in Carroll County, daughter of the late Charlie L. Barron and Jenny Sticher Gulley. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Dorothy Barron. Mrs. Duffee served with the Lamar County Fire Department 33 years and retired as the assistant chief. She participated in many MDA fund raiser. Mrs. Duffee loved spending time with her family, loved birds and flowers.

Sgt. Sylvia Pye
Sgt. Sylvia A. Pye, 56, of Barnesville transitioned on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at WellStar Spalding Regional. Services were held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at East Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Pastor Jimmy Lyons officiated and interment with honors was held at the O’Neal Cemetery. Sgt. Pye served with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department over 20 years. She was a member of East Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son Dentavious Pye of Griffin; parents Minnie L. (Lewis Sr.) Fletcher of Barnesville; one grandson; sisters Rosalin Phillips and Tracy Fletcher both of Barnesville; brothers Lewis (Talena) Fletcher Jr., of Savannah and Rodney Fletcher of Barnesville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends whom all will miss her dearly.

Carolyn Bagley Thomas passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2017, at Fincher Memorial Cemetery in Meansville, Georgia. Rev. James Taylor will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.

Mamie Bell Walton Fambro, 92, of Barnesville passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017. The family may be contacted at their residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at the Whites Chapel AME Church. Interment followed in the O’neal Cemetery of Lamar County. Pastor Lafayette Cooksey officiated. Linda Collier, age 52, of Barnesville passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. The family received friends at the home of her niece, Denise Fluellyn at 1019 Morgan Dairy Road in Milner. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at the Fresh Manna Ministires in Barnesville. Interment followed in the Shiloh cemetery. Pastor Oliver Leaks officiated. Bentley’s Funeral Home of Barnesville was in charge of all professional services.
Miss Collier is survived by nine siblings: Lee Barkley (Lillie Ruth) of Milner, Bobby Barkley (Cheryl) of Smyrna and Jesse Barkley (Daisy), Angelyn Johnson, Morris Barkley (Mary), Margie McDowell, Ronnie Barkley, Leonard Collier and Geraldine Foster of Barnesville. She is also survived by aunts Annie Maude Williams of Barnesville and Margaret Bennett and Elizabeth Walker of Griffin, and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

Earnest "BB" Ray Russell Bailey
Mr. Earnest “BB” Ray Russell Bailey, age 56, of Barnesville passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his residence. He was the son of the late Billy Bailey and Margene Morgan Lindsey Bailey and was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay Quinn Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a member of Panhandle Baptist Church, and was a contractor.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his two Daughters, Morgan Bailey of Hampton and Miranda Smith (& Michael) of Gray; one Son, Christopher Bailey of Barnesville; two Sisters, Michelle Adams (& Mike) of Griffin and Regina Shumate; seven Grandchildren, Kane Smith, Jaden Smith, Christopher Bailey, Jr., Grayce Rae Bailey, Nevaeh Bailey, Owen Smith and Callin Giles; Nieces and Nephews, Brandie Adams, Nicholas Adams, Stuart Adams, Michael Adams, Robbie McLendon, Isaac Shumate, Hunter Glaze and Adam Glaze.

LaNira Adams Holmes
Mrs. LaNira Adams Holmes, age 74, of Barnesville passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. A Barnesville native, Mrs. Holmes was the daughter of the late James Hubert Adams and the late Mrs. Vivian Poulnot Adams. She was raised in Lamar County, graduating from Gordon Military College before moving to Atlanta in 1962, where she graduated from Georgia State College. She retired from BellSouth after completing a 30 year career, and moved back to Barnesville in 1992. She then embarked on a second career as receptionist for Drs. Woodall, Wilson, & Manley, retiring 9 years. In 2010, she joined the Lamar County Sheriff's Office as a receptionist and worked there for 1 1/2 years. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Barnesville.
