Lamar County High School’s prom will be held Saturday, April 2 and Becky Patterson and other volunteers are helping local young men and women get Pretty for Prom by providing an outfit, makeup for the girls and even a limo ride to the prom. “We are taking donations through the day of prom because we are going to try to help students with shoes and accessories as well,” said Patterson.
The prom will be held at Gallery 51 in Forsyth and hair stylists and cosmetic artists from Southern Crescent Technical College will help prepare students the day of the event. The girls will get their hair fixed and boys will get haircuts. Goggans Florist will provide corsages for all the students, including dates for the guys. Williams Funeral Home will provide the limo ride to the prom. Janine Henry does all the alterations to ensure the dresses are the perfect fit for each student. DBs Pizzeria provides lunch for workers from SCTC.
“We have so many people who do so much to make Pretty for Prom a success,” said Patterson.
So far, 13 students are using Pretty for Prom, with four young men needing tuxedo rentals.
