The LC Lady Trojans (8-2, 5-0) ran their region match winning streak to 29 games last week with wins over Spencer and Jordan in Columbus. Coach Wayne Calvert’s team last lost a region match on April 12, 2013.
On Wednesday, LC dispatched Spencer (05,0-3) 4-0. Victoria Boland had two goals to lead LC while Rachel Patterson and Skylar Bedgood had one each.

A memorial service for 21-year-old William Zachary Bryan Chambers, who was killed in a traffic accident on High Falls Road in Lamar County Sunday, has been set for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin.
Chambers, of 29 Cato St. in Griffin, died at the scene of the crash.
Survivors include his father and spouse, David and Joanna Chambers; mother and spouse, Lori and Robert Williams; brother, Mason Pope; sister, Gracie Chambers; fiancé, Brianna Lewis; grandparents; great grandparents.
A Lamar County man was taken to an area hospital Monday afternoon after a rollover crash on Hwy. 18 West.
The driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee was eastbound when he ran off the road in between the county line and the Potato Creek bridge and hit an embankment. The Jeep flipped end over end.
A witness said the driver, the only person in the vehicle, managed to extricate himself from the mangled Jeep but later collapsed on the side of the road. He was conscious as he was loaded into the ambulance.
The body of a Ft. Valley man was found early Friday near a hunting camp in Upson County.
Investigation is continuing into the death of Troymaine Johnson. Johnson’s body was located in the early morning hours of March 17 at a hunting camp on Triune Mill Rd. in Upson County. We have determined that Johnson, a paraplegic , confined to a wheelchair left his home in Fort Valley on Tuesday. March 14 with a female companion. On March 17 the female reported to officers from the Thomaston Police Department that she had abandoned Johnson in the woods and was uncertain of the exact location. She gave general directions of where she left him. Deputies from the Upson County Sheriff’s Office located Johnson deceased at the hunting camp property. The female is in custody on unrelated charges. Charges related to the death of Johnson are forthcoming upon receipt of information from the State crime lab. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and District Attorney Ben Coker are assisting with this investigation.
This investigation is active and ongoing. More details will be released as they become available.
Marion Matthews VFW Post 6542 Auxiliary will host a Saint Patrick's Day Party on Friday, March 17. The party will include karaoke with DJs Jessi Jane and Kevin from 8 p.m. to midnight. The party will also include Wheel of Fortune, refreshments, door prizes and a raffle for the Saint Patrick’s Day basket.

A truck caught fire after a two-vehicle accident in front of the library on Highway 19 south in Zebulon around 6:40 a.m. Thursday morning. The wreck resulted in two fatalities with two people lifeflighted to Grady. [Full Story »]
A high speed chase involving a stolen Suzuki motorcycle that began in Monroe County came to an end when the driver ditched the bike behind Midway Church off Hwy. 36 West in Lamar County Wednesday afternoon.

A home on Bowen Road on the Pike/Lamar county line was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived around 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 6.
One person was injured at the 186 Bowen Road home and transported by ambulance to Grady in Atlanta.
Updates on the injured person's condition will be posted when available.
Firefighters, sheriff's officers and first responders from Pike, Meansville and Lamar County responded to the fire. Firefighters were still fighting the flames at the completely destroyed home around 6:30 p.m.
