Lamar County was well-represented on the Region 5AA all-region football team.
Center Michael Tenney made the first team on offense. Defensive end Terry Grier and linebackers Andruw O’Neal and Rondez Fletcher made the first team on defense. Quarterback Malik Collier and wide receivers Tae Holiday and Alondrick Cole made the second team on offense.
Tackle Cedric Dumas, linebacker Malik Banks and defensive backs Jaylund Harris and Cole made the second team on defense.
Defensive end Adderius Barron earned honorable mention status.
The Lamar County Trojans (4-4), depleted by injuries and defections, defeated a Top 10 team in the Herad County Braves 14-11 on the road in Franklin Friday night.
LC brought only about 35 players to the game.
Jonah Stout started at quarterback for Lamar and was solid. Malik Collier, who has taken most snaps at QB this season, moved to wide receiver. The changeup got head coach Bryan Love his first real signature win at LC.
Brave quarterback Emory Jones, who has committed to Ohio State, spent most of the night at wide receiver and the Trojan defense contained him for the most part. Andruw O'Neal and Jaylund Harris had key interceptions for the Trojans late in the game.

A late rally fell short as the Lamar County Lady Trojans fell 7-5 to Heard County Thursday at Aldora Field.
Miscues in the infield and outfield and base-running errors cost the Lady Trojans who fell behind 7-0 but came back to cut it to 7-5. They had opportunities to tie or win in in the bottom on the seventh but fell short. LC will finish second in the region. Heard won the region crown.
Placekicker Dawson Davis hit two field goals, including a 43-yarder, and nailed his only PAT attempt to propel the Lamar County Trojans to a 13-10 win over the Jackson Red Devils Friday night at Trojan Field.
Davis also did an excellent job handling punting duties for LC.

Everett Horne of Barnesville won the 7-9 age group of the PGA Drive, Chip and Putt competition at Idle Hour Country Club in Macon July 25. Everett was first in driving, first in chipping and ninth in putting. He finished with 108 points to 74 for the second place finisher. He advances to the subregional competition at the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine Aug. 27.
Everett is the son of Amanda Gunnels and Josh Horne of Barnesville and the grandson of Bruce and Linda Akins of Barnesville and Sidney and Barbara Horne of Milner.
The Lamar County Middle School Trojans will play a preseason scrimmage against Henderson Middle School Saturday, August 13, according to head coach Brian Brannock. The game will be played at Trojan Field at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $5.
The Lamar County Trojans will host an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. at Trojan Field. Admission is $5.
There will be bounce houses and snow cones for the kids and the booster club will operate a full concession stand. After the game, recreation players will have the opportunity to play flag football under the lights on the Trojan Field turf.
South Atlanta H.S. will be here for a scrimmage Aug. 12. Monticello will come to town for a second scrimmage Aug. 16. Both those events start at 7 p.m., also at Trojan Field.
