At least four LC wrestlers will move on to the Class AA Section B wrestling finals Saturday in Bremen after placing fourth or better in the area traditional tournament Friday at Bremen High School. Those who finished fourth or higher will move on to state.

The LC varsity wrestlers won their 12th and 13th dual matches last week as area meets approach.
On Tuesday, Lamar topped Americus-Sumter and Alcovy before falling to Upson-Lee. “Our guys have wrestled really tough over the past couple of weeks and look forward to continuing that push into the postseason,” coach Jeff Sloan said.

The Lamar County Lady Trojans routed the MP Lady Bulldogs 51-17 Saturday in the Oscar Wimberly Classic played at the LC gym. Newcomer Daishai Almond pumped in 19 points for Lamar while grabbing nine rebounds.

The Lamar County Trojans (5-2, 2-0) took care of business at Macon's Thompson Stadium Friday night as they outclassed the NE Macon Raiders (0-7, 0-2) 29-0..

The Lamar County Lady Trojans swept a doubleheader with Early County Wednesday night at Aldora Field to advance to the second round of the GHSA Class AA state softball playoffs. The Lady Bobcats were eliminated from postseason competition.
Lamar won the first game 9-1 and cruised to a 12-2 victory in the nightcap.
In its long sports history, Lamar County High School had never won a region championship in softball but that changed last Thursday when the Lady Trojans edged out the Bleckley County Lady Royals 3-2 in Cochran.
Fastpitch softball had long attracted athletes in surrounding counties - Pike, in particular - but LC is catching up and catching up fast. The varsity team is laden with young talent and the undefeated middle school team promises to feed more high level players to the varsity in the coming years.
Many of these girls have honed their talent at the local recreation department and then moved on to club teams that play challenging travel schedules.
Oddly, the championship was decided with just one, mustwin game while the semifinals consisted of best of three series with Monticello that was played here. Region coaches chose that format.
The Lady Trojans split a Tuesday doubleheader with the Lady Canes then closed out the series with a Wednesday win.
The Lamar County Trojans (3-2) return to the gridiron Friday night when they host Bleckley County at Trojan Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Royals were off last week as were the Trojans. Bleckley is 1-4. Their lone win was a 13-0 decision over Hawkinsville. They have losses to Dodge County, West Laurens, Dublin and Berrien County. They have been outscored 136-49 over four games. In contrast, LC has outscored its opponents 103-77 while playing a non-region schedule of much larger schools.
Friday’s contest is the first of five straight region games for Coach Jamie Abrams and his team.
The Lamar County Trojans improved their record to 2-2 after a 27-14 win over the Ola Mustangs, a AAAAA school, Friday night at Trojan Field. Ola fell to 2-2.
Lamar travels to Alcovy next week. The Tigers are 0-4 and have been outscored 160-7 over that span. LC is off Oct. 2 then finally moves into Region 4AA competition Oct. 9 when they play host to the Bleckley County Royals.
