A man fled on foot after Lamar deputies stopped his car on I-75 this afternoon. The suspect was later captured on Unionville Road after an intensive search.
A man wanted for murder in Cobb County shot himself with a rifle after being pulled over in downtown Zebulon Saturday afternoon. The man, identified as 43-year-old Randall Keith Fisher, subsequently died at a Griffin hospital from the self-inflicted wound.

Lamar sheriff's deputies and agents of the Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 131 Bulldog Court today, making one arrest and seizing four grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of marijuana, according to sheriff Larry Waller.

The Herald-Gazette has confirmed Morehouse College police chief Vernon Worthy was indicted today by the Lamar County grand jury on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault and pointing a gun at another. The charges arose out of a confrontation in which Worthy allegedly pulled a gun on a local man whom he claimed was trespassing.
Testimony at a magistrate court hearing last year, however, indicated Worthy was the trespasser.

More wanton violence erupted in Barnesville today when shots were fired in the area of Sims Street, Johnstonville Road and Crawford Road. No one was hit by the gunfire but two people were injured in a subsequent car crash in which a vehicle overturned.
