Trojans' game ball to arrive by parachute
At the Friday, Aug. 14 scrimmage game against Rutland, Fort Benning's official parachute demonstration team - the Silver Wings - will jump into Trojan Field at approximately 6:30 p.m., demonstrating their elite parachuting skills while delivering the game ball to Trojan head coach Jason Strickland at the 50 yard line.
My dad and my uncle both were stationed at Fort Benning.
Dad was in the 508th and was one of the jumpers in the back ground of two movies "Screaming Eagles" and "Jumping Jacks" with Jerry Lewis while at Fort Benning.
My uncle Major Leo F. Tate, retired from the ARMY, he is now deceased. He was in the 82nd and 101st Screaming Eagles which I have to say uncle Leo is my personal HERO! He was in the Green Beret and was a Ranger. There was a training course named for him at Benning, I am not sure if it is still there.
