Trojans plan Blue Out for first game at new stadium

The Lamar County Trojans are asking fans to dress all in blue for the first game at the new Trojan Field Aug. 28. They have just the shirt to round out your outfit.

The tax payers paid for the new football stadium, they paid for the uniforms, and they paid for everything else, so do we have to pay to get in to something (a game) that we already paid for? Except the food and drinks of course.

the solution is simple... quit your job {if you have one}, sell your property {if you own any}... no job, no property, no taxes, no game... im wondering exactly how much tax money you personally have invested in the new stadium. care to make a guess? probably not as much as your trailer rent or camaro payment.

It does not matter to me how much we paid for it, I am glad to see the school system geting something they should have had a long time ago. Its a amazing place they really done a great job developing it! Wish them luck!

What kind of comparison is that? Why should taxpayers pay as much for games as we pay for transportation or shelter?

If we spent 7.5 million and 400 kids use the stadium, we spent $19,000 per kid for improving the stadium from what it was.

I'd feel enthusiastic if the big rally was because our school's performance got better. Then I'd buy a Lamar Pride shirt for my whole family. People complain about wasting money on education, there isn't one kid going to be smarter because of the astroturf.

S.P.L.O.S.T. -- What don't you understand about sales tax vs. property tax? Anybody that buys anything in Lamar Co. contributes by paying sales tax, whether they're residents of the county, or not... The stadium and the auditorium were SPLOST funded, and voted-on by the residents of the county. Come live in the 21st century with the rest of us. I'm pretty sure that this went right over your head, however.

SPLOST taxes hurt local businesses. They push people away that would make major purchases because the sales tax rate is higher. They aren't free, they tax every dollar spent for taxable items. What is important is the few hundred marginally educated children of Lamar county and their marginally educated parents have a nice new stadium to brag on.

soooooo..... how much did you contribute personally to this venue? looks like freebird needs to take his "three steps" and figure out "what's your name" maybe he is just too much of a "simple man" to figure out "that smell" is the meth cooking in the back bedroom. while "I know a little" you my friend know nothing. If people are so unhappy with the way things are here in Lamar County why don't you just move to another county. Life is to short to spend all your time pissing and moaning all the time. Every county around us has a splost tax and if I recall correctly our last one passed with somewhere around 85% that cared enough to vote in favor. So if your in that 15% minority nobody wants you here anyway!! Bye and don't let the doorknob hit you where the good Lord split you!

Free Bird sounds real intelligent when he "thinks" he knows what he is talking about. Do you want to watch the game for free? I suggest you stand on the hood of your car in the parking lot with a pair of binoculars or stay at home. At home you can gripe about why these kids are so lucky to have something so nice to play on and you didn't. I'm willing to bet you didn't play a down of football or any other sport for that matter.

hey, since you wont be attending any games at the new field, send the county a bill for your empty seat. I would if I had contributed as much money towards building the new facility as you have.

I dont care to know your name. that was used just to tie in to all the other L.S. references. you did have a good point though. It takes one to know one. that was good. stepped right into it didnt I ?

Amen, Adam12... There's nothing like facts to support an issue. Some folks will never be happy, no matter what... That's the 15% that you are making reference to... If somebody walked up to them and said, good morning sir / madam, then their reply would surely be... "Good for what..." Glass 1/2 empty syndrome.

I finally figured it out... you are so mad because you cant make the doublewide payment and come to the game. dang it man, lay off one six pack a week and you can afford the gate price. tell the old lady to skip a couple of packs of the menthol and you can be there... see, it dont take a rocket scientist to figure out how to get you into the game. I am glad I could be of assistance. you are welcome...
