it was a smart move.you can't keep paying people to sit on their butts at work thinking they have a RIGHT to a job.paying for sorry help sooner or later will bankrupt you.untill the current work ethic changes in this country large corporations will continue to take their jobs over seas.
Ouch. Hurt economy, health care, school and so many. Protest everyday. Bring our Gadsden flag, America flag, Bravehart, George Washington, Moses and the ten, protest and more. Freedom. Saving freedom. No more bailout. No more tax. No change. No change for america. Stop credit card. No Obama care. Stop Obama. Stop Obama. Obama took 7 months to mess up. Bad economy.
Indeed the Toilet is a great visual.
However, profit is not a dirty word. The Herald News Gazette would not exist without profit, the bank would not exist without profit, and all other business in our town would not exist profit.
Profit, is what keeps the business here next year.
So, in my opinion it is not a dirty word.
Management decisions can be a dirty word. Making changes without considering all parts of a picture, before making a quick decision.
Many times Talking Heads cause the decision to be made. Later the company has to adjust for faulty decisions. The Auto Industry is a prime example.
carter rise alot kids everything happening for a reason faith is in god i work at for 12year it was a blessing and thank god for that a blessing is coming my way i know that keep the faith
it's easy fire lazy ones do almost all you can to help good ones or go under the corporate american model and steal there pension and throw them to the curb when the board can afford to buy a new summer home.
A job is not a right, you are correct but the moral and proper thing to do is take care of the ones that make you the money you have.
It’s just business so don’t take it personal. That’s the attitude today’s companies have toward the business decisions that leaves their employees out of work. It’s a mind-set companies have had for decades and, as a result, now have a workforce that seems to be indifferent to the needs of the employer. I once had a company minded approach to where I would sacrifice my time and income for the good of the corporation but this Polly Anna outlook fell victim the hardcore business approach of the company had toward it’s employees. Now, it’s payment for services rendered only. If the business goes bust….oh well, some one else out in the rat race will be willing to apply my skill set toward their profit margin….it’s nothing personal…it’s just business as usual. The “Were just one big happy family” environment in the business world is an image company’s like to project but in reality they have killed off that possibility long ago and to have it is nothing but naivety.
Indeed,HB, profits are what businesses are all about, I agree.
But there has to be another way for businesses to react to slumping profits without cutting the working force or closing the plant.
There is usually a huge disparity between the management and frontline employees payscale. Does anyone in the head office think about not accepting that bonus one year? Do managers think about really watching the employees to see who is producing and who is not?
And sometimes the economy just takes a nosedive and perhaps the numbers will be bad for a while, but maybe management can just ride it out like we do, tighten the belts at home and live a little leaner like the rest of us. It's not always necessary to hand out the pink slips at the first sign of trouble.
I've been around long enough to know that I'm disposable and if I lose my job, I'll go ring up your Doritos and Camel Lights at a Quickee Mart and I'll do it with a smile until the economy improves and things get better.
Still liking the toilet on the curb visual....
I worked at the carters warehouse for a number of years. Lots of people were sorry and did not work. They cheated on their production records to get more money. And, the people who did their jobs and did them well were fussed at by the big boss because they didn't do as much work as the sorry liers.
They do all this because they KNOW that 'affirmative action' protects them. They KNOW they can be sorry and get away with it. They KNOW others are scared of them and won't MAKE them work! It's partly the employers fault and not just the employees.
This is the main reason so many products made in USA are so bad.
Maybe you should go to Mexico and report back why a transmission known for years as a very reliable transmission suddenly is a piece of crap that costs more when moved away from affirmative action? Same parts and design, just assembled in Mexico with Chinese and Mexican parts.
Did affirmative action poison our fish from China? How about the pet food? Was the Chinese medicine that killed people here a result of affirmative action?
There are liers, and then there are liars. No one is perfect and no one is all bad. The world is full of slackers and cheats. That's the way life is.
I remember when Wal-mart was all about American made. They got big and drove away all the competetion. After that they cared less if it was all China Mart.
I don't know where Holis shops at but the only bad things I get seem to get are things that are made in China or Mexico or have problems with the parts of things "made here" that are made in China or Mexico.

Is it valid to change your business model, shift work within and out of the U.S. in order to sustain your business?
I've received a bonus at the same time as my company is laying people off. Should I tear up the checks?
