Gordon College is expecting record enrollment that could well exceed 4000 students when classes begin Monday.

Free school, free books, free housing...what a great deal. I'm sure they love the enrollment numbers but what is the number of graduating students there?

Bet the crime rate is about to soar in Barnesville!

crime is about to go up 4000 students will get some new dealers in bville with the wrecks shootings and thives that go with a town this small chuck and larry good luck.

People talk about the economic benefit of Gordon students here. The only business that benefits is the Crow's Nest and Huddle House.

I suppose you will not want to be acquainted with the facts, but read the press release at http://www.usg.edu/news/2009/040109.phtml. Gordon College has a rather large impact on the local economy--the article above mentions the demand for rental housing, and businesses here do benefit. Gordon College is also a significant local employer. Another fact is that those college graduates will earn more and therefore pay more in taxes throughout their lives than they otherwise would have.

FYI: Yahoos sit up in trees and throw poop at Gulliver. Let's not be that kind of community.

When will the people of Barnesville and Lamar County realize that if it were not for Gordon this place would have dried up and blown away years ago.

non married I would hope so they are 18 years old. What is wrong with kids getting an education. Or are you just upset that some of these kids are going to be your boss.

This is great news. I hope the school grows and grows, and becomes an important degree giving institution in the University system.
We will all gain from that. Carrollton has thrived since The University of West Georgia became a total 4 year degree giving institution, and Advanced Degree institution.
This looks good for us, and we will have one means of getting the government money that everyone else is getting.
As time goes by, hopefully and hopefully a noteable academic event will occur at Gordon, and it will grow even more.
I went to Gordon Military College, High School and Jr. College, and graduated from both, and have a great affection for the heritage from the College and what it stands for.

One thing about it those who will graduate, will not walk to help their self esteem. They get to walk because they have earned it.
Hope the High School will learn that.
