LAMAR COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

On August 16 at 5:35 PM a call was received in Lamar County E911 that threatened a bomb on the Gordon College Campus. The caller provided no details of the bomb location. The Gordon College Campus Police and Plant Operations were the first on the scene, followed shortly by the Barnesville/ Lamar County Fire Department. Units from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, Barnesville Police, a Grifin Police Department canine unit, the Georgia State Patrol, and Lamar County Emergency Management responded within minutes to isolate the campus and begin searching for the device.

It’s nice to see other agencies so willing to assist Lamar county when needed. Lamar is a small agency and I’m sure they can use all the outside recourses they can get in situations like this one. When I passed by the college I saw several stated troopers and according to the article a Griffin K-9 officer came down to assist. I even saw the Griffin officer along with a few of the troopers shaking hands and talking with Sheriff Waller. I’m glade to see that the cooperation is restored.

Good for all the First Responders!
I feel badly for the students having to deal with this kind of foolishness when they are here to get an education.

Lamar is a big agency. Not small. Pike, Upson and Monroe is a small agency.

Why apologize unless you called it in?

Everyone forget when the "bombs" where placed around town?

What happened to that? It got swept under the rug!!

Maybe those guys did it again!!!!

Yeah. Bigger town of Barnesville and Lamar County. 21,489 or 23,289 people in Lamar County. Not 17,000.

I’m glad they were able to get a dog down here. A bomb can fit just about anywhere and a firefighter or a cop might over look it where as the dog will smell it even if he can’t see it. It just goes to show how important it is to have a good working relationship with surrounding agencies. Thanks sheriff Waller for doing a great job.

Campaign is over. Time to move on and stop the campaign rhetoric. Time to remove campaign signs on Crawford Road. Law says they must go. Stop breaking law with ugly campaign signs. Do job, rewards and respect will come from that alone. Not blowing own horn constantly or still having illegal campaign signs up.

THANKS TO GRIFFIN POLICE K9 OFFICER CHAD MOXON FOR HIS DILIGENT EFFORT TO ASSIST THE LAMAR COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT AND THE GORDON COLLEGE POLICE WITH THE SEARCH. HE WAS THE ONLY K9 OFFICER TO RESPOND AT THE LAST MINUTE TO SEARCH THE ENTIRE CAPMUS WHEN THEY CALLED OUT NUMEROUS AGENCIES TO HELP OUT THE COUNTY THAT HE RESIDES IN. THANKS OFFICER MOXON FOR A JOB WELL DONE. YOU PROVIDE AN SUPERIOR EXAMPLE TO ALL K9 OFFICERS THAT DO THE JOB, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT PUTS LIVES AND PROPERTY ON THE LINE SUCH AS WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION SUCH AS BOMBS AND EXPLOSIVES.
