I have to agree with Ms Claxton. The intersection of 341 and hwy 18 is dangerous. I think largely because the city, county, and the state patrol, are too busy posturing about who has responsiblity, and nobody taking the lead, and making police cars visible in this area at all times of the day. Police presence, no matter who, I believe will stop the left turners after the light has changed, the speeders, especially by alot of semi trucks, would be reduced, and an overall greater responsiblity of observence, by the general public would take place. We must remember we have schools near this intersection, and at what time does a school bus become part of this mayhem.

Do we really need more fire fighters? Didn't one of your previous posts state that we have 85 volunteer fire fighters? Thats almost more "hands" then the Sheriff's Department and Police Department have combined. Even those these members aren't "paid" several thousand are still spent in their training. Not to mention the new fire house. Give it up. We have adequate fire personnel.

From what I gather they think each 85 member needs to be a paid firefighter. Even though it seems that of the 85 that are signed on, 90% only answer calls that are "exciting".

I see police out there all of the time. Not sitting right at the red light but running radar trying to get people to slow down before getting to the red lights. Besides, the police or sheriff's office have nothing to do with getting something done about that intersection. That is left up to the DOT. Has the city council contacted the DOT? Another thing, I don't think the have enough officers to sit there day and night. From listening to the scanner the two officers on duty work their butts off. Contact Kenny Roberts about this. He controls them. They (BDP) have needed help for a long time and now with the college, someone better start planning.

No need more firefighters. We have 90 or 100 firefighters. Not volunteer. Fire chief want 12 fulltime firefighters? And rebuild the firehouse? 12 firefighers stay at the firehouse 24 hours. Yes, Training any Monday evening. Police and Sheriff have not combined.
