Four citizens turned out and none offered comment September 1 as the Lamar County commission held a public hearing on its proposed budget.

My child also will not attend school on the 8th! She already flips the channels on the tv and ask "why is this idiot on again?"

See, that goes to show how much you know and pay attention. The commissioners have had 3 PUBLIC budget hearings that were posted in the newspaper. I was there, where were you? Talk, talk, talk. You are full of it!

Walter, can you get with the BOE at Pike and Lamar and find out if this Obama show on Sept.8 is going to happen here?

No. You have no clue. Not president obama. No show on Sept 8. Talk about the supreme court, the fire station, the sheriffs, the splost and many more. Anything? Any question? Think?

I would just like to say that I am even more confused now. Can you explain your sentence to me?I personally have asked the BHG for a way to have an open blog forum were people can discuss other topics than what are listed online. Until that happens then we (the people) have no choice but to post our questions or concerns on any other blog that is available.S. Tolley have you heard any news on this Obama speech?

Re: Swine Flu - At this time there has been on confirmed swine flu cases in Pike Co. There is one unconfirmed (but highly suspected) case in Upson Co.

Re: President's speech - After talking to the BOE there is no decision yet on whether or not the schools will tune in to the presidential address. I am expecting a return call with the final answer.

Re: Lamar County Board of Commissioners meeting - There was a very large ad on page 6A of the newspaper yesterday showing the budget and announcing the meeting. That same ad ran a week ago.

Thanks Andrew, I tried calling the Pike BOE several times but got directed to voicemail each time. My son would love a 4 day weekend;-)

My son won't be at school on Sept. 8 either..since it is a Saturday . I actually just stopped in to say..I love the picture on this story. It gets the point across. I for one will pay closer attention to the community meetings posted, and try much harder to be involved, as we all should.

Did you even look at a calender before speaking. September 8th is a Tuesday. Please learn to read a calender before speaking.

Ummm...September 8th is a Tuesday. Might want to check what calendar you're looking at....seems a little behind.

Sorry Anon #11...I made a mistake...failure to flip the calender page...being human...it happens. And though I am not perfect, I do have good intentions. And..if we were all perfect..there would be no need for the meetings anyway. Hope to see you there...despite the error on your post as well ( "in out community"). ...I am sure if we all work together for our county..we could make a difference, even those of us who forget to flip a page from time to time. Save me a seat.

This is a perfect example of how Americans have become. "A Mom" voiced her ignorant opinion before checking the facts. Something as small as checking the calendar before commenting is shown on a MUCH larger scale everyday in America now. This country has become lazy. Just as no one showed up to this meeting but instead complain online is even another example. If you are not part of the solution then you are not only part of the problem...you are the problem.

Well obviously you weren't at the meeting either. And here you are online complaining. Sounds a little hypocritical to me.
