The Obama administration is rethinking its course recommendations for students ahead of President Obama's address to the the nation's schoolchildren next week, rewriting its suggestions to teachers for student assignments on how to "help the president,"

The Washington Times reported Thursday that presidential aides acknowledged they helped the U.S. Education Department write the suggested assignments, which stirred criticism by many who say Obama is trying to indoctrinate the education system.

What do I want to do? I want to make choices based on information that is accurate. I am not getting good info from either side of the major issues these days.
What do you want your school children to do? To learn how to be their own person. To know that we are all in this together and by working together solutions can be found that can be a win-win for everybody.
Do I endorse the president addressing the schools? The president is the leader of the free world so what’s the problem. An American born child of school age is as much a citizen of this country as one who is old enough to vote. My endorsement is immaterial.

Then you should remove your child from school all together, There is nothing wrong with the president addressing school children. And to all of the indoctrinating nut jobs, I recall one great president saying "Ask not what your country can do for you... but what you can do for your country"

I have a feeling he will be telling children to work hard and study and if you do, you to will be successful with out having to rely on daddies money or influence.

Right, wrong, or indifferent, W would tell people where he stood. At least he was consistent.

The current president wants change to come quickly to this country: healthcare, taxes, environment, economy, etc. However, he took 6 months to choose a dog and is trying to railroad MAJOR changes on the American people in a couple months.

President Obama's address to our schoolchildren is not without precedent. President George H. W. Bush offered a similar address in 1991. President Bush's speech was a sincere, non-politicized message to American children, and I'm sure President Obama intend the same thing. I hope our schools allow children the option of viewing it.

Mr. Odom, in five paragraphs, you succinctly paraphrased the consensus of America's media reports regarding another Obama flipflop.

This narcissistic opportuniist who governs via polling data, invents any occasion to position his smiling face in front of TV cameras accompanied by ever-present Teleprompters.

His plummeting job approval ratings forces him to use "government run schools" to reach a 'captive audience' for his own benefit.

Mr. Odom asks:
What do you want to do?
I won't do anything. I don't like stage acts.

What do you want your schoolchildren to do?

I have no children in school. My grand children attend a top private Christian school up North and I believe their classes will be on a field trip during the ObamaCast.

Do you endorse the president addressing our schools?

Yes, a President should be allowed to address schools in a benign manner with messages of encouragement and void of political necessity.

This is basically the way Adolf Hitler started approaching the youth.

Obama is a dangerous man and is bad for this country. He has the assistance of some top congressional leaders and the quietness of his czar implementations. It doesn’t require too much intelligence to see the people he is aligning himself with and the tactics he is using can be found in the history books. It is amazing to me how he is able to hoodwink so many people. Fortunately, people are waking up in droves and paying attention to what he is doing and comparing it with failed governments of the past. Those that continue to point fingers at Bush only show their own feeble attempts of admitting the Obama failures with hopes that all that is happening is not really true. They know but they are in denial.

He is involved till the end. He started the ball rolling down that path and he must change the country into something other than a free society or go down trying. He is persistent but if things continue, I see a different change on the horizon.

Children are still children. It doesn't matter how grown up they think they are. I do believe parents should have the upper hand, when it comes to what they are being exposed to. Are they sending notices home to give you the option of whether or not your child sees the speech? I am sure everyone will be exposed to it as far as tv., but at least you can turn the tv off if you chose not to watch it. I guess we have gone from "It takes a Village" to "It takes Obama".

i agree. it's not a question of what our children will do for obama but a question of what obama will do for our schools. they are in crisis. schools closing, teachers being laid off classrooms being combined to cut down teachers furloughs being implimented. where does it stop? our children now don't stand a chance because so many vocational classes are being taken away from them. instead of putting money in failing banks and useless programs invest in our schools and our children. alot of kids can't afford to go to college they need the vocational classes to help give them a hand in the future. it's really sad when you think of all the money paid by tax paying citizens and the lottery money our schools are broke.

I feel like this is an irresponsible road to go down. If I am understanding this correctly, the plan is for schools around the nation to air a LIVE broadcast of the President giving a speech. As a parent of three children, I do not agree with anyone (including the president) giving a "live" speech to the children across the nation. The reason is this: As a live broadcast, there is no way to ensure that nothing will be said that is to deep of a subject or something that could be misunderstood by the children. It might be different if he were recording a speech that could be viewed by the parents in advance of being aired at the schools. No matter who the person is, President, entertainer, teacher or parent...black, white, hispanic or other...I want to know that all precations have been taken to ensure that the message is appropriate for the children of this nation. After all, he is the President and the children of this nation will more than likely listen because he is an "important" person. He is more influential than if the students were just listening to a random person. I don't think it is to much to ask to allow the adults to view the exact broadcast the children will be viewing and then make an educated decision about who should or should not view it in the schools. Just my opinion.

I applaud the schools' decision to allow the children to watch the President's address and to arrange alternative activities for those students whose parents do not want their children to hear the speech. That is truly fair and balanced.

God is the answer, he's the change we need. if everyone would stop focusing on who is in office or how much we hate the current president, maybe we should pray for him. It seems highly ironic to me and perhaps a little hypocritical that many of the people who object to the president addressing school children also allow them to watch sex and violence on television. Indeed, some may even allow their children to have televisions in their bedrooms. These people really need to ask themselves whether their motive really is protecting their children.

I want to make sure I understand. I should forget the fact that President Obama aligns himself with people who hate this country. I should forget that his own words from his own books relate to the readers how he hates our system and does not trust white people. I should forget that for the first time in history, the government owns private businesses and intends on taking more. I should forget that this man has discussed creating a citizen police force funded at the same level as our U.S. military. I am to forget that he wants to take from people who create jobs to give to people who rarely want jobs. I am to forget that this man has decided to close a prison that held enemies of the world. I should forget that this man wants to give us the same healthcare as our socialist neighbors when this system has never worked in the history of mankind. I am supposed to forget that he supports abortion on demand, and he supports taxpayer money paying for them. I should forget that under his leadership, our national debt has quadrupled. The interest alone is 500,000,000 a day. I should forget that he has traveled the world telling them that we are not a Christian nation. I should forget that he has proudly proclaimed us one of the largest Muslim nations in the world. I should forget that he has appointed men who have heavy tax problems to run our treasury. I should forget that this man has proudly appointed unconstitutional czars to positions that did not exist before his presidency. I should forget that he aligns himself with Islamic leaders, former domestic terrorists, and socialist professors. I should forget all of this and hundreds of other things .....just because he is black. Am I to understand that every time a black person spoke out against a white president, that they were racist. Of course not! I am not sure why the debate has turned to color. Why can't I work against this man because his policies are destructive. I have always supported conservatives and worked against liberals. I am a strong supporter of capitalism and a hater of socialism. Am I understanding the debate to say that I must put everything I believe to the side, I must roll over and let this wonderful, God-fearing nation die just because of this man's color. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of a nation that looked beyond color to the content of a man's character. I have looked beyond his color and find it reassuring that this nation elected him. Looking at his character has left me something to desire. Looking at his character, I see an empty man.

I couldn’t find much to substantiate if it was true but I did find lots of talk about it. This video about that up-rising in China’s Tiananmen Square is supposedly one of the things that it would also be commemorating. The video is interesting “1989” for those that are not aware of it.

I don’t believe it will happen but I still wouldn’t be surprised about anything the current administration would allow to take place. That includes the SOS who I would assume would have some say in the matter.

Think about something for a moment. An instrument in ushering in socialism and even communism is getting the people to turn against each other. With that – disarming them to prevent violence against each other is in the mix too.

I see a lot of that taking place.
