As the sun set on Barnesville on Labor Day, the temperature was the only thing getting cooler as some 300 people showed up at the Ritz Park ampitheatre to show their concern over recent political developments.
Republicans and Democrats alike represented their concerns for health care reform, Cap and Trade, family values and fair tax.

Seperation of Church and State is for "Government" NOT Citizens. Citizens can hold prayer meeting political rallys anywhere they like so long as they have permission of the property owner.
You must be thinking that you have the right to not hear about God and Jesus whenever you like, this is not so. You have the right to stay HOME but you have NO right to complain about a Political event organized by Citizens. Citizens can do whatever we want at our own events, even if we were to hold a month long Revival Type Tea Party with praising AND preaching.
Ms. McBroom said specifially that this event was for God, Country and Constitution....She organized it, and she can include God in whatever you wants because she is a CITIZEN. I think she deserves a Medal for this, because she has done something GREAT for this community!

Frankly, hearing some Christians for a change is like a breath of fresh air.
We all filter our arguments through our belief systems. I for one prefer to filter mine through an Almighty God whose Word is in the Bible for all to read. The secular humanist belief system is wherever the winds blow today. Not very comforting when you want really know what is truth and what is lie.
I urge all Christians to demand equal time. Before people like "Conservative" try to cut us off.
In the case of 'me-party', please be advised that a dedicated grouop of volunteers worked for several months to put this all together. We received no financial gain from the 'Me-Party'. Everybody worked hard to pull this off.
The real beneficiaries of the 'Me-Party' are those who are looking for hope against an increasingly powerful federal government and all the new statist programs coming out of Washington DC.
We don't want government health care, Cap & Trade, Law of the Sea Treaty(LOST), gun control, government take-over of the internet, Hate Crimes Bill, Federal ID cards, TARP, cash for clunkers, Ben Bernanke and the private federal reserve bank that is ruining America...
I could go on forever - the US federal government is acting like the Roman Empire under Nero.
Of course, you won't find any separation of church and state when it comes to socialists effecting change in our government or schools. They have free rein. But silly me, socialism and communism aren't 'religions', right?

Regardless of if you are or not, "City Property" is paid for by the "Citizens" and is therefore OUR property and does not belong to anyone but the community.

Later, you elect to remove the arms, converting to a sleeveless; next, the collar is removed. At this point, you still own a shirt, but one that is nearly unrecongnizable. And, finally, you decide to remove the buttons and use the remainder as a cleaning cloth. Do you still own the shirt?
Obviously, not, because you elected to change the requirements that defined your origininal white shirt, and its purpose; obviously the shirt was destroyed and converted into a rag. And, so it is, our elected officials are implementing illegal change, one stage at a time, purposed to destroy The United States of America, currently near unrecognizable, and with the strongest push America has ever witnessed, toward total destruction of our Christianity, our nation, our freedoms and liberty, and all we hold near and dear to our hearts.

I also want to thank EVERY member of the committee that worked hard to put together a fine public meeting. We prayed, we worked, we built something to be proud of and proud to share with others from Barnesville and surrounding areas.
I am not going to join the fight here arguing over whether this TEA Party should have been based on Christian values, but I don't know any better foundation to build our resistance to the troubles this nation is facing. I would rather celebrate the faith of our hundreds who came out to voice their opinion and the faith of our fathers that raised the best country in the world out of the ashes of their frustration and anger with the overbearing government across the ocean.
I don't like the corrupt government we have right now.
I don't like the Czars who bypass our checks and balances system of government.
I don't like a lot of things about Washington DC.
Our anger has been growing for a number of years, maybe before 9/11/01, but certainly after it. It is time for politicians and wannabe politicians to listen to us!!

Our Father-God tells us in His Word, the Bible, that if we will turn away from our sin and to Him, He will heal our land, in reference to any troubles we face. No matter what we think, say or do, God the Creator can never be left out, only ignored. We are speaking clearly about dangers we see. Health Care Reform is not needed in the way it is proposed. Our National Day of Prayer was ignored, while the start of Ramadan was honored.
Our government is out of control. Mr. Van Jones resigned, but he should never have been given such a position with the belief system he has. There are others equally as dangerous, if not equally open about their personal beliefs.
Those of you complaining about the TEA Party should have shown up in the months before it to help us, share even the views here and the reasons for them. It is easy to be an armchair quarterback, not so easy to stand up, be heard and DO SOMETHING.

Every bill is posted there for Citizens to read....yet many are too lazy to take time to read them. And yes, this site is as offical as it gets. It's the actual bills being debated in congress, word for word, with no second hand sources to relay the information and mislead the masses like News Media and corrupt Politicians so often do.
As a Citizen, I spend 2 hours of my day reading Bills on the Thomas.gov site. I find this much more productive than watching TV. If Citizens all over the nation did the same, if they would set aside the TV and spend time on that site, they would probably be pretty damn shocked at what is actually in many of those bills being passed by those elected by the people because very few representatives are "For the people" these days.

I can give you a few specific areas where your claims in the meeting and in the newspaper ads were misguided to the point of being outrageous fibs. You had a speaker who claimed global warming is a myth.
Factually, 97% of scientists whose discipline is climatology agree man is playing a significant role in global warming. The statistical trend is that the better educated and more experienced a scientist is at changes in climate, the more he believes man is largely responsible.
The more likely "scientists" to disagree with global warming are, no surprise, those who earn a living working with fossil fuels or who are weather men trained only in short term changes and predictions.
In a field of experts who have devoted their lives to the climate, 97% is a compelling number.
You, on the other hand offer Robert Hainey and some local politicians with a questionable history of integrity (and who have a history of not understanding simple basic energy conversion systems) as your authority to repute thousands of experts.
Factually the more a person actually understands about Physics and the Eco system, the less likely they are to agree with what you preach.

If you will, keep in mind, "Bob Heiney" very obviously does not thump his Bible, but actively reads it and is given the ability to fully understand -- understanding is given only to those who belong to God, as the Bible makes this very clear.
Ok, first I cannot question the integrity of any of our folks. I watched them work for months, for nothing, no pay, no accolades, etc. and it takes people who care to do that. My thanks go out to everyone who participated on the day of the TEA Party and during all the time we worked very hard to put it together.
Now, I am no expert. I am no public speaker. We all tried to give good, factual information. My own searches on the 'net tell me easily that there are lots of opinions on Global Warming. I don't believe in it either, so to me it is the wrong reason for Cap & Trade...lol. BUT, I also am not sure you and I and maybe even Mr. Heiney, whom I respect, are not fully informed. I do know that our current administration seems to use any reasoning or excuse necessary to spend more $$$$, and its our money.
But I don't want to turn this thread into a treatise on Global Warming. There was much more said at the TEA Party. And even more happening later this month, both on the side of our protests (now in Washington DC) and on the side of a White House I can no longer respect.

I did not know what Christianity was, but I thought I did. And there were plenty of times that I had questions about things that just did not add up. So you see, I soon came to the point of wanting to know how things really are, and not waste time or be misled by people who didn't know any more than I did, but just liked to have center stage, and fill in the story, as I listened. And, there were people who were filled with hate and centered on discrediting, what they didn't really know anything about either.
Then, one night I turned on my TV and as I was going through the channels, I heard a man talking on the Bible but this time wasn't like any other time. I wanted to remember all that he said, so I took notes. Within maybe 20 minutes, I started to see that his whole message applied to me, as if he knew me from birth. I've been listening & learning for a lot of years now and I never get tired of hearing God's Word, as I once did. The Saved, TV Evangelist who say it like it is written w/out adding, leaving out or twisting is: Jentzen Franklin, Creflo Dollar, Gregory Dickow, Charles Stanley, Michael Yousef, John Hagee, Joyce Meyer. And, there are others. And also I heard two Pastors from Barnesville at the Labor Day tea party at Ritz Park -- Pastor Billy Smith, a strong confident man who delivered a sermon we should all hear several times a year, and the schedule says, Pastor Chappell -- excellent, excellent! You can trust all of the aforementioned to tell you the truth.
One of the things I didn't realize from years ago, is that I could read the words of the Bible, but not understand, and that no one can, they just think they do, unless God permits us to understand. I said something near, "If you are God I want to know if you are real. I want to be the way You want me to be, In Jesus name, amen." I went on about my business and didn't think any more of it, then things to my great benefit started to happen. I was amazed at all the definite ways He let me know, He was there with me. It took a while to fully be confident in that fact, and that was because I didn't know all that I needed to know. But, listening to what His Word says with the ability to understand, continues to add what is beneficial and ever interesting.
In your message, you mentioned "killing people for outlandish claims the earth --- ." Before you even wrote it, you had to know the people who did as they did, were not any more Christian than Satan himself. There are people who attend Church every week, can quote many Bible verses, put up excellent prayers and are definitely not Saved. I'm able to know because God's Word tells us how, and we need knowledge of this because while its obvious through the apparent actions of some, others are guarded and it takes time around them to see who they really are. A person can believe in God's EXISTANCE, while not being committed to learning what His Word says and to obeying it -- if Saved, you'll want to learn and obey. The MOST beneficial thing anyone can ever do for themselves or for their loved ones. And, I'll address one other mention you had in your comment about slavery: I found the documented history of a slave on my father's side of the family. Interesting reading. While he was one of the ones terribly mistreated, he spoke of wanting to get back to the settlement from where he was captured, that he had been taken deep into the forest and mountains. When he escaped several years later, he was weak from being slowly starved, but his memories of home had kept him alive, and the people there who cared about him. Once recovered, he did great things, and returned to the miles of corn fields and the work of the land, being thankful to God for taking care of him in spite of the hardship forced on him. He accepted life as it is, did the best he could with what Satan had brought against him, and trusted God to bring him through, and to turn all that was meant for bad, to his advantage. I, too, have had high caliber issues, and I'm thankful for them because they were instrumental in establishing what has been turned to my great advantage.

Good luck on making a change when your group tells people if someone is not a born again Christian they are not worth listening to. Historically, when religion and hate is a primary motivation, many innocent people wind up dying.

So Tom, if you want to think that is the motivation for everyone's dissatisfaction with the current administration, then by all means jump on the race card band wagon.
Illegals are NOT intended to be covered by the proposals and never were. All of the independent fact check groups have verified this. Right now illegals are covered (as anyone is) in an emergency room and so we are paying for them right now. The real debate is if we want to change that policy and let people who don't have a card die.
I can give specific examples of how illegals defraud our system now, and neither Democrats nor Republicans care. Our own Republican representatives here in Georgia won't do a thing about it. They have been approached, they say they will do nothing.
I also heard a disturbing thing on the news tonight. The news report said conservatives were going to fight re-regulating Wall Street! If this is true, how dumb can these people get???
Wall Street collapsed and cost us all money in large part because Phil Gramm (Republican) pushed for legislation to remove significant portions of the Glass-Steagall Act, and Bill Clinton the Democrat signed it! It's like a tag-team against common sense.
That same Republican conservative, Phil Gramm, pushed passage of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000. That act kept derivatives transactions, including those involving credit default swaps, pretty much free of government regulation.
These are conservatives doing this to us all, in concert with liberals.
It amazes me to see people proudly wear the banner of conservative when the removal of regulations allowed all the bad credit cards and loans to take place, and the disaster we all paid for was driven by conservatives!
Democrats are to blame also, so they are not without complicity in this. They were all bums.
What irks me is some conservatives have vowed to not allow regulations protecting us from Wall Street be put back into place!
When it falls apart again and we have to send trillions more to bail them out again, let the fools who removed, stopped, or fought the regulations pay for the entire bailout. Don't bill me for disasters the far left and far right created as a team.
Why don't conservatives just admit they really love liberals? Both want to give our futures away, so why not run off and join each other hand-in-hand?
Only absolute idiots would want the financial institutions to freewheel again. We need to put back the regulations we put in place after the Great Depression before we mess around and have another one. Are we all so polarized now we can't learn from the large failures deregulation created?
We need something in this country different than conservatives and liberals, because they worked as a team to get us into this mess.
And, know that the pastor / pastors you mentioned who could not answer your questions that,"Their whole philosophy is even though it sounds ridiculous you've got to have faith," are obviously not Saved and therefore, lack knowledge and understanding of our Creator's Word. They are the "blind", trying to lead the "blind".
But, to help you, there are two definitely Saved pastors that I have heard and can endorse who live in the Barnesville area, that I am sure have the understanding you seek: Pastor Billy Smith & Pastor Bob Chappell -- I heard both speak at the Labor Day tea party at Ritz Park. Pastor Billy Smith has a Church in downtown Barnesville, on the same side of the street as the Past Time Grill; I recall seeing white curtains in the windows, and if I remember correctly, a Christian cross. My apology, that I don't yet know the name of his Church. Pastor Billy Smith is a most in-depth, dynamic speaker -- he has a great heart for people. And, Pastor Bob Chappell: you can contact him at Calvary Baptist Church -- an excellent, excellent presentation and an obvious heart for people, also. And, remember: go as an investigator wanting the truth, and asking questions from this prespective, in place of asking questions & making comments with an attack in your heart on God's Word -- only when you seek to know the Truth, will He permit you to have understanding, and only then, can you receive His most wonderous gift already waiting for you. Its a simple decision, but one of great inner strength.
