Obama set to show who's in charge

As oration time nears, President Barack Obama is beset by conflicting goals in a prime-time address tonight expected to detail just how he wants to expand health care coverage and lower medical costs while signaling to a deeply divided Congress that he's ready to deal.

And show the public he's in control.

An insane situation where we all can be a victim: Let’s say you have a preexisting medical condition or you undergo medical treatment which exhausts your financial resources. Before you know it, you have missed a mortgage payment or on a credit card. Your credit rating begins to slide. Later, your company downsizes and you become among the 10% of the work force looking for a job. You get lucky and because of the demand for your skill set and having an excellent reputation, companies are interested in bring you on board. They check your references and after the interview they are easily impressed. Next, they run a credit check and because of your medical expenses you come up short. This is a deal breaker and they pass you by as every other company will.
This is how the quality of life of countless US citizens begins to spiral out of control and with no resolution in sight. People who are presently able to keep their head above water say, “It’s not my problem” even though it could happen to then tomorrow. They just grit their teeth and begin to peddle faster hoping they can out run it before it does happens to them and deep down they know someday it will.
A person’s medical insurance should not be linked to your employment and by policy you must take it out if not covered by a spouse’s employer or by a preexisting medical benefit. At the same time who could afford the rates of an individual policy or one with a preexisting condition. It is this increased rate of an individual policy that is subsidizing the reduced premium cost of a group policy.
Insurance companies are not going to go out of business because even with the public option those who can afford it will supplement with a private insurer. The public option will just make insurance companies a little more honest if that is possible.

I have alot of missgivings about this bill. The president is too forceful about it. I dont think he has the answers, and someone else is thinking for him.
My opinion, is the correct reform in Health Care is Tort Reform. Get the Lawyers out of suing Doctors for malpractice, on preexisting conditions, and a limit on what they can sure for.
I know several Lawyers that can outrun a speeding ambulance to the ER, barefooted.

Everything is profit driven.....including one's health, as well as, justice. Should some aspects of life be kept off the balance sheet? If so what?

Isa, actually Citizens are the kings and queens, Government officals and workers are the "servants". Look it up.

The kings and queens have been mighty lazy and have let the "servants" run wild for far too long.

The president of the US is trying to pass a bill that would provide a measure of security to many American lives at a time when it is much needed. Anyone who has suffered major financial difficulties or carrer loss because of health problems knows the impact and wishes it could have been avoided in their lives.

#6 If you had read the bill, you would realize just what he means by "cutting costs".

Yes, based on his speech it all sounds WONDERFUL, but on paper it's another story entirely. No man can cover over 1,000 pages in only 45 minutes, a lot was said about the "good things" in the bill and the "bad things" were barely touched on other than the little comments he made about the "death panels" and the insurance for illegals. And if you'll notice, in that few split seconds of the speech, he was booed and even called a liar outright by someone in the chamber.

Read the bill, don't trust his words 100% EVER, he's a smooth talker but that's all he is.

Sheeple....don't be a sheeple....read it yourself, it's terrifying. Don't take my word for it, don't take HIS word for it, and don't take some reporters word for it. Read it yourself and come to your own conclusion.

I can gaurantee you, if you have a loved one who is a senior or "terminally ill" then you would definately say "I do NOT support this health care bill".

It's a large pie, I would say about 80% of it is delicous, 15% of it could be swallowed if needed to get to the good parts, and 5% of it is pure out and out poison.

If it passes, is the good worth the lil bit of poison? Hell no, not that kind of poison.

I only heard more of the same-o same-o, only to a large group of Democrats. If there was enough waste and fraud in medicare or social security or whatever to fund this program it would have already been done. If he had added all the pork into this funding and the money that is going into groups like ACORN, I might have thought, now he is really looking for real funds. If he is going to call out those who say things that he doesn't think are right, surely we have the right to call him out when we hear him spouting things that are not realistic. I believe with everything in me that this man does NOT have America's interest at heart. His radical associations speak too loudly. By the way, you need to watch Glenn Beck today. He will be exposing ACORN AGAIN! Remember where Obama's roots are grounded.

Being an American citizen I support the President of the United States regardless of the person who holds the position. With that being said, I do not agree with everything President Obama does and says. If he had the welfare of the American citizens at heart he would have first considered the bonuses the elected officials in Washington handed out recently to the underlings in Washington, along with the hiring of 30-some czars to gather info and reply to him. How can someone who is willing to align himself with such as the hired czars be considered trustworthy to handle the future of other citizens, be it through a health plan or an economical crisis? No. He did not change my mind.
