Despite a nationwide controversy that ensnared local educators and parents, President Barack Obama’s much discussed speech to schoolchildren was broadcast in Lamar schools last week.
Some parents asked the system to provide alternative activities for their kids. Others apparently just kept their youngsters at home.
The speech turned out to be a largely rhetoric-free pep talk.

I was disappointed in the speech. it was not what I expected. He changed it on purpose so it would make people who know what he really was going to say to say look bad.

I'm so disappointed on how a lot of people reacted or shall I say over-reacted; people are really showing their TRUE feelings of hatred...it's so sad that it is being passed down to their children.
