I think a team that gets beat 100-0 should not be allowed to play anymore. It's not the victors fault that the team you are playing sucks so bad they cant even make a free throw. Come on now...not even one shot accidently went in. wow! I've just flung the ball from half court over the back and have made some. If I were the coach of the losing team I would have just ripped the uniforms off of their bodies, the good-looking ones anyway.
i heard the team that lost was a handicapped team is this true??
even if it wasn't they could have at least put in 2nd string, kids do have feelings and you could have been a little considerate...
There should be a rule where the one team could have called off the game. The team that got beat has players with learning difficulties like ADD and so on. I wouldn't call them disabled though as we think of it. I have seen it before where the coach of the team that was getting beat so bad simply pulled his team off of the floor. The coach had that option whether there was a forfiet rule or not. Kids are too damn soft now. So you lost 100-0. This team honestly shouldn't be playing. As I recall from the article they haven't won a game in a few years as it is. They have lost two other previous games by 90 some odd points to 0 as well, but that didnt make the news. This was not a new experience for this team. If you can't field a good team keep them off of the court until you can compete.
It showed poor sportsmanship by the winning coach, which is ultimately why the firing I presume.
Whoever let that game happen should be in question as well. They were apparently not in the same league.
Looking at some video of this school on youtube, the poor girls can barely hit the rim. The school only has 20 girls in the entire school. The team that won by 100 points has a D-1 caliber point guard and foward who are set to go to the university of Texas next year. This game should have never been played. I don't think the girls did anything wrong though. These kids should be playing kids on the same talent level. Why can't they play J.V. teams til they get their talent level up to par? It would make more sense and give them a better chance to be on an even level.
I remember our basketball teams at B.A. in the 80's played some terrible teams like Cross Keys Academy out of Macon and Indian Springs Academy. Indian Springs boys team was so bad soon as they crossed half-court they would shoot the ball. Sometimes they would do shyhooks from half-court. Everyone laughed like it was a joke but their players were serious. I didn't play basketball but went to all the games. We had some good teams back then.My main sport was football where I was a starting receiver.
Macon has some good private schools and athletic programs, which I wouldn't put Cross Keys in that category. Cross Keys is where the rejects or the one's that couldn't afford Stratford or Tatnall would go....lol. I have many friends that went to Stratford and Tatnall and even dated a girl from there, but I wouldn't be seen with anyone from Cross Keys, I mean OMG my friends would kill me.
If anyone is interested I can name some of our good basketball players from the 80's. I have over the years researched the stats of all of our football games and basketball, including players stats. I guess it is just a hobby for me...LOL.
Rip was a starting WR for B.A.. Luckily they had Robo QB Butler. Also, B.A. was run oriented and ran between the tackles and didnt even rely on down field blocking from the reciever postion. I remember several games I attended where B.A. wore white shirts and white pants in the mud. Let me tell you after 4 Qtrs. # 86 still looked as if he was playing in a puddle of bleach...uniform was still white as snow.
I would watch who you call that mean word. I'm taking kick boxing lessons and at the top of my class. That is one reason I was such a good receiver because of my strong legs.OMG ask anybody that saw me play.
