There are a dozen ways to get killed by doing something stupid like towing a vehicle with rope. I remember when two Jeeps were trespassing and got stuck in a swap area. They hooked up with a thick rope, pulled, the rope broke, and it came back right through a window and split the one guy's head open like a ripe mellon. Instantly dead.
Fools like this put everyone around them at risk, not just themselves. They often don't have insurance either.
The article is wrong the towed car didn't veer into the other lane. There are no charges pending on the vehicles there were no tickets giving. By the way i am the owner of one of the vehicles.
Mr. Geiger was absolutely on the scene as witnessed by the photograph he took documenting the accident while providing perfect descriptions of the "beat-up Chevy S-10 pickup"...and "an equally ragged Chevy Blazer".
Mr. G must have left before the GA Hwy Patrol talked with the "wreckers". Imagine! towing with a rope. Hot dog! ain't this fun! yuk yuk! gollee!
Mr. G is being kind. He did not describe the individuals in charge of the two vehicles or their homies. This bunch could have been described as refugees from the movie DELIVERANCE. Are they shooting a remake in the area? Remember the "squeal like a pig scene".

The Hillbillys in the movie looked fine compared with these dudes.
Sue-EEEE! These rednecks probably never heard of a drivers license.
MR. DAVIS. DONT LISTEN TO THESES CRAZY PEOPLE THEY THINK THEY ARE SO HIGH AND MIGHTY THEY JUST HAVE TO SAY SMART THINGS JUST JELOUS THAT THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING THEY REALLY SHOULD BE ASHAME OF THEM SELF.
you know at least they were trying to help someone in need. That is something most of you dont understand since you are to busy making fun of people and accidents that could have killed a loving husband, father and grandfather. I just hope that if something horrible happens to one of you that you find people to be at lot less cruel. God bless the ones of you making fun of these people because you are going to need it.
and if anyone cares the accident was caused by a semi with a list of faulty equipment, which we are all lucky did not kill someone. The driver admitted that he never put on his trailer brakes and he was hauling over 40000 pounds not to mention the 33000 pounds that his trailer and cab weighed. on inspection we learned that the tires were bare and that the air brakes on the trailer were faulty. This accident could have been alot worse and to thank you people are making jokes about someone life. CJ i am ashamed to admit i live in this part of the state were people get off on making jokes out of someone lives.
You say the accident was caused by the semi, but according to the owners they were pulling out and pulling the vehicle across the lanes when it got hit. That puts the primary fault on the vehicle crossing the lanes of the truck. If the truck had faulty equipment it's secondary to being in the wrong place with the towed vehicle. If people didn't do unsafe stuff like towing a vehicle on a busy highway with a strap the accident would not have happened.
Liz Akers, Your language is absolutely puzzling. I see it as a cross between redneck and hillbilly but worse than both, but since you've obviously got an addled brain, neither of those words can quite describe you.
Your mockery may seem or appear to be funny to your or maybe even others, but statistics show that those who are "your type" are one of the most pathetic breeds on the planet.
true enought they should of not have been pulling thesse cars out in these lanes with arope or what .but that does not give any one the write to talk about any one in this way HAVE YOU NOT EVER DONE ANY THING WRONG IN YOUR LIFE TIME.
Before anyone on here comes to their final conclusion on what happened, I think we really need to wait until Sgt Maynard of the GSP with 18 years experience on accidents finishes his wreck report! They were also trying to make a U turn at the "wrong intersection" to head back south. It is clearly marked "Do not enter". That intersection is to be used by southbound traffic ONLY that want to turn and come into Barnesville on Atlanta Street! They were suppose to go down to the next intersection to be able to get back in the southbound lane! There was a witness too! Also, does anyone know how hard it is to stop a tractor trailer truck that is loaded and also coming down hill???!!! We have a 12,000 camper and I get so aggravated with drivers who think our truck will just stop on a dime!
i agree it is hard to stop a loaded tractor-trailer. That is why it is so important that these companies make extra sure that their truck and trailer are up to standards. They must be in good working order. These people were not doing the smartest thing by pulling a truck but as most of you seem to have missed is that for what ever reason the accident happened a life or several lives could have been lost. A mother could have lost her husband and child, children could have lost their father. Lets all get over the childish bullcrap and remember that thank god these men and this child went home to their families last night. A women got to snuggle up with her husband instead of plan his funeral. That is the important thing here. The cause of the accident is that just a accident, the lives of all involved is what is important.
Well i dont know about it being clearly posted, i have been there and made that mistake several times as have i seen others. That spot is confusing, and i have talked to others who agree. Maybe barnsville should do something to make it clearer. Not blaming them, just stating a fact
thanks cj for taking up for them. I am Raymonds wife and tylers mother and i am proud that my husband cares enough about someone to try and help them. That is something i am sure you making fun of them does not understand. I am horrofied at the way these people are making fun of this accident and of my husband. Maybe you are all rich enough to be able to call a wrecker every time you or someone you care about has car trouble but most people are not. And i also do not remember the model or shape of your vechile having anything to do with the person that you are. It is not a time when everyone can have a car right off the show room floor. My husband is a wonderful. loving, caring, christian man who spends his extra time feeding the hungry people here in thomaston, and also in atlanta, and letting them know that there is still some people out there that cares about them and their lives. I thank god that i got to hold my husband again and that i got to hug my son. I could have been planning their funerals. Thank about that. THe cause of the accident is not important, they fact that several lives could have been taken is what is important here. The way people on here are making fun of them just goes to show you the state this world is in now. I would much rather know a man that goes out of his way to help others, sings christian music at the nursing homes and truly cares about other people and how he can make their lives just a little bit better, than to know the kind of person who makes fun of such a horrible accicdent and that is what is was a accident, whom ever they find at fault. This family and this town and alot of other people would have lost something if he had been killed. I know where he would have went had he died yesterday, do you know where you would go if you were to be killed suddenly, the ones of you making fun of them, might need to rethink things because Jesus is fixing to show up and show out!!!!!!!!!! whats going to happen to you. My husband would not be upset with you because he would say that you had problems in your life and that you needed help to find your way, imagine someone like that....God bless you all and i hope that your mother, father, wife, husband or children never get that kind of call
this world is sick the 18 wheeler did have faulty eqipment and the lanes are confussing and ///////////////all said my life was allmost taken i can say we all will be juged by jesus 1 day were dose your haert lies today i would have whent home i thanks the lord jesus christ for all and iam proud of it that is were this world has messed up takeing him out love you all raymond eubanks come to no him today
TO THE WIFE THAT MADE HER COMENT .YOU GO GIRL THANK YOU GOD THAT HE BROUGHT THESE MEN HOME .AND IN STEAD OF MAKING THE SMART COMENTS BE HAPPY THAT THEY CAME HOME TO THERE FAMILY.
Ummmm.....what? I caught Jesus...after that I'm not really sure what this guy is trying to say. Ask your lord and savior to give you strength in the english language and try again.
I was there and I saw this accident in my rear view mirror, and this semi truck driver did everything he could to keep from hitting the two trucks that were towing and being towed. I even spoke to the S-10 driver and he admitted to me that it was his fault and that he was attempting to make a U-turn and didn't see the semi before attempting to change lanes - in an attempt to go south bound at the turn around point.
Ma'am it's fine that your husband was trying to help someone else but towing a vehicle with a strap or a chain on a major highway like 41 is not only against the law it is dangerous. The article mentions a 'certified tow strap'. This means that the strap was professionally manufactured for the purpose of pulling another vehicle out of a 'stuck' situation, not for towing over the road. I understand not having the money to call a wrecker and having to use a strap or chain, I've been forced to do it myself, but to do so on a 4 lane highway is asking for trouble.

These comments make me so happy to NOT live in the UPSON/PIKE/LAMAR county area any longer. You all sound like a bunch of back stabbing snobs. Wow...what a community spirit. You all really get off on having this forum to tout your anonymous statements. I grew up in this area and people like you are the reason I left...grow up...get a life of your own!
We are all delighted you left and found a better place to live with nicer people. I'm sorry you were forced to read this blog and see all the dumb lowlifes you hate, but at least it reminds you how superior you are.
how about the wreck yesterday(11-17) at the cvs/walgreens intersection?the big question walter needs to ask is where was the sheriffs officer headed when the collision occurred.yall are gonna love this.its only a rumor from me so lets let walter get it out in the open
I think this forum is for cowards to make fun of other people down falls. Its not being used for good. At least I hope thats what it started out to be.

"puzzling" "redneck" "hillbilly" "funny"
"pathetic breeds" "mockery"
Words used to describe yourself and your relatives in the 'accident'.
"but statistics show"
What statistics? give me a cite on those 'statistics'
Ms. Liz Akers
It a good thing the semi-truck and trailer was there as a 'rolling guard rail'.
