Just recently a 48-year-old man who has not used money in nine years and resides in a desert cave in Moab, Utah, was quoted as saying he loves his simple existence.

Daniel Suelo said while he shops for clothes by going through garbage, he is content with living an existence where he does not have to worry about a job, mortgage or other concerns that plague most U.S. residents.

i enjoy my new house (well as of 2003 when i paid cash for it)my motor home, my triton bass boat,my alumi-craft 14' jon boat,my hunting bow all my guns,my top of the line fly rods,my shop full of tools of every make and kind.my pay check of which i keep $500.00 a week play money out of to just do with as i please.
no i dont feel sorry for the quote "less fortunate" people as a matter of fact i dont give a fat rats rear about them.they are wher they are in life because of stupid decisions they made in their past.
i think anybody that would go live in a cave is stupid.they have serious mental problems and are a danger to society and should be put under lock and chain.
people this uesed to be the greatest country (before courious george was elected) you used to could make all the money you wanted.now we have become so dependent on the government that we have become a country of whining little wimps that look for free hand outs instead of going out and busting your butt and making it in life.

Well, I am glad that you are so blessed... Life in its simplest form may not be such a bad thing considering the rude and uncaring culture that pervades today's society. The main question that I would have about this person living the kind of existence, as described in this article is... What does this guy do for healthcare, when the need arises...? I guess that he could just go to an emergency room and be administered to there as an indigent person. Primary healthcare would, also, be an issue, I would think...

To the poster above... All of your prized possessions can be taken away at the blink of an eye due to circumstances beyond your control. Maybe it would be a good idea for you to get into the spirit of the season, Thanksgiving, i.e...

I enjoy my house but im wanting something bigger. Looking to incease 500 or so sq ft. Im at 1800 i think now.
I dont have all the stuff listed above my wife and myself live comfortably. If we want something we make plans to get it. May not be spur of the moment. It may take us a month or so to get things in order to get it. After she is finished with college it would be a little more relaxing.

i'm glad some what there are poor people, if not who would flip the fries and cut my lawn , haul off my garbage rake my leaves,wash my motor home and cars, oh and i, forgot my air-plane.its nothing big,just a cessna 172.

My life is pretty close to perfect right now as it is.
My house is the right size, my yard needs work to get it where I'd like it, but that can be a project for the next few years until retirement.
I'm content with almost everything right now, and the things I'm not content with? I can try to change what I don't like. I may not be able to change it, but as long as I try, that makes me happy.

You shallow ignorance is showing. IF what you post is true, then I would be one of those less fortunate than you. I have a home with about 100K left on my mortgage, a few vehicles some paid for one is not, 3 kids in college and one who goes next fall. I have a job in healthcare that I love, but I'm not knocking down the big money that's for sure. My husband's business has been heavily impacted by the economy and his income has been slashed by more than half. We have adjusted to keep a roof over our heads, food in our mouths, and the kids in college. There are days I wish things weren't so tough, and that I could just spend without worry.....but unfortunately, that isn't my lot in life. I don't believe my situation is due to "bad decisions" made earlier in life. I try not to focus on how hard things are now, but instead I try to focus on the fact that in these tough times we have managed to stay afloat when so many others have not.

One thing I know for certain is that if I lose my house, my vehicles and my kids have to work their way through college my family will remain strong. Our foundation is solid and not based on "stuff". Can you say the same thing?

Giving thanks for what truly matters, and saying a prayer for those who are clueless.

Hope all that crap makes you happy. I invest in people, not useless THINGS. You sound pretty ignorant, it's hard to believe you have all that you claim. My house is normal, not paid off, but I am the richest person around because I have loving family and friends around, who are all grateful for what they have. I'd rather hang out with poor people on the street than with you in your big house or big boat, ANYDAY! People matter, and I hope you figure that out soon, before it's too late.

If you are so rich and you own all that you say you do, where do you keep it all? And why are you living in Barnesville when it sounds like you could be living anywhere you want? And obviously having money doesn't get you good grammar skills. I sure hope you do not lose it all because with those grammar skills you probably couldn't get a job "flipping fries".

It sounds like envy escaping from some of you out there.

I'm not rich but I'm not poor either. If you are happy then you have riches far and above what money can buy. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the fruits of your labor as long as you don't start worshiping the material things. We lost everything but the clothes on our back in a fire in 1997. It made us realize there is a lot more to life than material things and we are a lot better for it.

The best things in life really are free.

Its nice that you can afford to live that type of life style you choose. But you seem to be upset just because others don't want to live like you. God blessed you with the ability to have those material things but they can be taken away just as quick as you got them. And for your curious George comment last time I checked the economy was messed up before PRESIDENT OBAMA was elected. And next time before you try and call someone curious George at least spell it correctly. DUMB HICK!!

I live in a trailer in the woods. I'm happy as can be with my long necks I have air conditioning and heat and can pee off my porch thats all I need.

This guy who lives in a cave and does not use money is still a parasite on the community. He can do as he pleases only by the grace of those who are trying to work within the system. The fact that he doesn’t take on the personal responsibility of providing for his own health care means some day he will cost others because of his choice to opt out on society. He may convince himself that he has claimed the moral high ground but to live a life of exclusion vs. going out and making a difference or a contribution to the common good of humanity easily reveals his self-serving path.

i'm self serving. i'm self serving myself a beer and some fat meat right now. it is my right to relax and have a six pack every night. when my liver goes since i dont have insurance or any property i will get a free transplant. this is the good life. god bless american.

This guy is just lucky he hasn't yet hit a bump in life that knocked his legs out from under him. I too have been lucky but know better that it could have just as easily been completely different. Life has a tendency to humble you where one realizes we are not in complete control of our destiny. I wish no ill will toward anybody but I believe his day will come where he is less arrogant and self rightious towards those who are less sucessful than he.
