97% of climatologists, researchers who study long term climate change, think it is real and humans play a significant role.
About 60% of meteorologists, or "TV weathermen" who only deal with short term predictions, think it it is a real problem and humans play a significant role.
The less educated and skilled in study of long term climate, the closer the number moves to 50-50. The more educated and involved in long term changes, the closer the number moves to 100%.
Myself, I have no idea because I am not an expert. I trust the people known to be most experienced because almost 100% is a compelling number.
If you really think people who are not experts and are not involved in the subject are more likely correct or more likely accurate, you should also go to a veterinarian, or better yet a plumber, when you need an eye or heart operation. :-)
I see you are still making comments without support off proven facts. Are you related to Al Gore and hope to capitalize on the billions he hopes to capture? Please allow me to make a suggestion. Visit a Proctologist and get checked for a brain tumor.
Have you not been paying attention? One of the main sponsors for global warming has now admitted to manipulating the facts to support global warming.
Yes, thats the drain on Collier Road and several times the city has been asked(by the owner of the home) to put in a larger drain so it won't flood so bad (even offered to pay for it) and they keep saying it is fine. As you can see it still floods and so does the side yard straight to the back (should have got a picture of it too!!!!!)
Mr. Rauch, unfortunately trying to convince certain people that global warming is real is like Galileo trying to convince the Pope that the earth is not the center of the universe. I wonder if there is a club for global warming deniers similar to the flat-earth society.
I read that it often takes a generation or two for proven scientific theory to be fully accepted by the public. Some are slower than others.
I went by that home about 1:15 and saw the owner out there frantically trying to clear that drain. I hope she didn't suffer any damage to her property.
Wonder why the city won't listen to the citizens? We elect them hoping they will listen to us and help us with some of the issues here.
While I am no advocate of local officials and city politicians I am able to see both sides of the situation.
Collier Road and the surrounding neighborhood are for the most part low-lying areas. I have personally seen work crews cleaning the ditches and in some cases digging deeper and more efficient ditches throughout the immediate Gordon College area.
When as much rain falls as it did yesterday in such a short amount of time the water levels simply exceed what the ditches can handle. It takes time for the water flow to continue and work its way to the spilloffs.
I have also seen (and this is true of my neighborhood) where folks rake their leaves and straw and debris into their ditches and hope it will magically wash away. When considering the 18" (or so...this is a guess) pipes that run under some driveways, well, they get clogged fast and even trying to unclog them will often just pack the debris tighter into the hole.
Our best bet is probably to be as accountable for our own yards as we ask the city to be.
Cite your sources. Having only slightly studied global warming, I am curious as to where you get your information. I have not found 100 % of the "highly" educated to be in consensus on anything, much less global warming. I still see it as an ongoing debate. A scientific hypothesis, especially on such things as global warming and evolution, takes a good while to prove. Only time will tell. Personally, I don't see either of those conjectures to be realistic, but I am always open to proof. But I haven't seen it yet. Am I looking in the wrong places. Please, provide your sources (other than Al Gore please).
There already is a "Club" of realistic people who don't just blindly believe this "manmade global warming" theory certian people talk of.
It's called "The general public"
I find it amusing how you can select 100 "climatologists" from all over, and poll them, and get results such as were quoted earlier, but in reality, if ALL climatologists were polled, the numbers would be much more to the contrary.
Well what you say makes sense then, Madison.
I'm always confused as to what is provate property and what is the city's.
For instance, if I were to want to put in a sidewalk in front of my property, I bet the city would deny it since they would claim that it is theirs.
There is more.. so try to do your own research to form your OWN opinion. But keep in mind that big oil has big bucks and a vested interest in denying global warming.
The scientific consensus is clearly expressed in the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environmental Programme, IPCC's purpose is to evaluate the state of climate science as a basis for informed policy action, primarily on the basis of peer-reviewed and published scientific literature (3). In its most recent assessment, IPCC states unequivocally that the consensus of scientific opinion is that Earth's climate is being affected by human activities: "Human activities ... are modifying the concentration of atmospheric constituents ... that absorb or scatter radiant energy. ... [M]ost of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations" [p. 21 in (4)].
Ya'll chill. Global warming is a hoax. It was created for tiny minds. Anyway - warming would lead to an ice age so things will cool back down. In the past when global warming took place man wasn't around driving cars and burning fuels. So what did that warming trend get caused from.
Oh how could I be so stupid. Of course: Animal farts in the air caused the warming the last time.

Typical spin tactics.
