Driver sought in Piedmont Road hit and run

A man was struck by a hit and run driver at 597 Piedmont Road Wednesday night at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies are searching for the assailant who is driving a 1987-1991 Ford F-150. The vehicle is thought to be a light color with primer spots. The truck will show damage on the passenger side from the door to the taillight. It will, however, be missing the taillight as it was damaged in the wreck and left on scene. There may be some damage to the undercarriage too evidenced by the accident scene. (this is a change from the original lookout

I sure hope the victim will recover.
I think hit and run drivers deserve jail time- I can't think of an excuse to leave a person hurt, possibly dead in the road.

Praying for the Families involved, I know some of them and they are wonderful people. As far as the driver, I feel certain that they know they hit something, so they should have went back to see what or who it was. A man could lose his life and a Family their loved one! There is no excuse good enough to explain why someone would just keep going, that is cold hearted.
Everyone please come together as a community and pray for this wonderful Family.

I live on Piedmont Rd, some people come around the curves way to fast when you try to pull in your drive. Please slow down before someone does get hurt or killed.

I pray the victim will be OK. Most likely the driver is one of the many drunks that drive so nonchalantly around Lamar county. Almost every day I see someone coming out of a store with alcohol, get behind the wheel of a vehicle, pop open the alcoholic beverage and chug on it before driving away. And the amount of beer cans and bottles on the sides of our roads is rediculous. Does the High Sherriff not care? It doesn't appear so.

Make sure you call 911 when you see one of these drivers, Andy. It could be your loved one who gets tangled up with the drunk driver next.

This is the victim, Shane Perry's, sister. He is with my mother and me at my mom's house. He came home last night from Atlanta Medical Center with NO BROKEN BONES, INTERNAL BLEEDING, OR OTHER INJURIES! Thank GOD is all I have to say. It's a miracle nothing is wrong with him! Whoever did this to him deserves some serious punishment! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR PRAYERS! God does listen & I promise will answer when you call on Him! Thanks from the whole family!!

The hit and run was in Lamar County. Near Upson and Pike county line.

Hi Andy,

Here you are putting down the sheriff again. I'm sure there are so many deputies employed at the SO that they have time to monitor all of the comings and goings at gas stations. I feel that if you see something like that, then you are responsible for reporting it. You SHOULD report it...doing nothing makes you just as guilty.

Shame on this VILE person who would hit a human being and continue down the road..... when they are caught (and they will be caught-God Willing).... they will get their just deserves..... if you happen to be reading this post yourself--you are scum and hopefully will be punished.....better not let ME get my hands on YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am Shane's cousin; I was very upset to hear about this news late last night. His miracle is a testimony to prayer and the control God has over our lives. As for the criminal, you know who you are, and this will catch up to you one day in one way or another.

Attention All Law Enforcement!! Patrol the Piedmont Rd area.The speeders on this road are really bad.you would think it is practice run at Atlanta Speedway.The speed limit is 45mph, not 65mph.There is a sign that says no big trucks allowed, but no one reads that either.
There has been alot of wrecks on this road and speed has been a factor. Pike and Upson uses this road for short cuts home ,so Please take notice before someone get killed or injured

See I don't get it. Half of the complainers complain that deputies spend too much time pulling people over. The other half complains that they aren't pulling enough people over and protecting the roads.

I'd hate to be in law enforcement. It seems they lose either way.

I live in the area as well, and there are some crazy drivers out here. You would think they would have police officers going down these roads. Like Piedmont rd, The Rock rd, Willis Rd, and Vega rd. There are always people speeding down those roads.

HELLO THIS IS THE VICTIM OF WENSDAY NIGHTS HIT AND RUN.I JUST WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR PRAYERS THAT WERE SAID FOR ME THAT NIGHT.IM GLAD TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT AFTER DAYS OF SORENESS ALOT OF SLEEP AND WATCHING MY 1yr. OLD DAUGHTER GET AROUND BETTER THAN ME.IM RECOVERING WELL AND PLAN TO RETURN TO WORK TOMORROW. THANKFUL TO GOD ABOVE FOR ANSWERING THOSE PRAYERS,WATCHING OVER ME THAT NIGHT.AS FOR THE PERSON THAT HIT ME IS CONCERNED.I HOPE THE CATCH THEM BEFORE I DO.NO MATTER WHAT THEY WILL PAY FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE IN THE END. awhile back I saw a guy wreck a scooter in the curve @ Piedmont & The Rock Road. ran right into the ditch... he was traveling at least 15 MPH. how do you NOT make a curve at that speed ???

Today I was at the Lamar County Sheriff Office and I saw a stang thing it was a very nice black helicopter and yes i know thats probally spelled wrong but say what you want i dont give a crap and then I saw Larry Waller OUR sheriff they where going to go looking for the pick up truck that struck this nice gentleman This guy is not my family but Larry waller THANK YOU and your troops for such a great job I am glad your back! and to the sob who did this to him if Larry dose not get you god will! you have not won and are not going to escape judgement!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the above shows just what public education is Lamar County can do for YOU!

Pesky grammar and punctuation does not trouble this person. He/She needs to express themselves and need not bother with effective written communication skills.

Of course you should also take their glowing endorsement of the current sheriff at face value as well.

If you can decipher just what it is they are trying to say. 8-)

Has anyone checked the older blue and white truck that the old man drives 15 m.p.h on hwy 36 and piedmont road.He lives on lindsey rd. that's close to piedmont.The truck is older and is 2 toned color.
