Barnesville police officer Ernie McWhorter's home on High Falls Park Road has been burglarized and authorities are concerned about the burglar or others using uniform items stolen from the home to impersonate an officer.

nobody could impersonate that fine thing!ernie is the sexiest cop bville has.makes my skin tingle just lookin at that good lookin man.barnesville should have a calendar for the police dept and ernie should be febuary because id love to see him half dressed.id pay good money for that calendar.

OMG I can not believe that people would crack comments about how good looking a guy is, when there could be a potential killer using this officers uniform to prey on innocent people!

Please tell me my eyes are seeing this wrong, if they are not, then there really are some messed up people in B'Ville.

I hope the criminal is found fast, at least we know that due to the direness of the situation that no officer in Lamar County will rest until the stolen goods are recovered. At least I hope not, this is horrible.

If someone was going to impersonate an officer, they would do it regardless of the break in. Obtaining a uniform is not difficult in the slightest. Most SWAT team members don't even have a department name, department patch or even a badge on, just generic military style clothing with a "SWAT" or similar patch on it.
I sure hate the officers house was broken into, but the whole thing about speculating a fake cop running around because of it is pretty overzealous at minimum.

Anyone with a brain knows that uniforms can be obtained easily. But NOT official BADGES and his badge was stolen as well! That is serious! Anyone who trusts a person based soley on how they are dressed is stupid, but people trust those badges.

As for using SWAT officers as an example, if they don't have a badge, then they have no business bothering Citizens, their job functions are different than typical officers and deputies. Even officers will tell you, do not TRUST anyone without a badge no matter if they have flashy lights, a cop car, a uniform etc., the burgler has a BADGE, that is cause for concern.

Maybe you should grow up, and get your head out of the sand.

A simple google search and you can purchase and customize any badge you want for under $50. Considering it's not hard to spell BARNESVILLE and POLICE DEPARTMENT, anyone can get a badge made, and thanks to this photo posted you can see exactly what the BPD badge looks like. Maybe I'll get one for myself. So actually YOU need to grow up and get your head out of the sand.

A badge can just as easily be obtained, and you can have one printed up to read anything you want to. Just look on ebay or galls for offerings. A physical badge doesn't signify much more than an official looking attatchment on a uniform, besides, animal control officers and EMT's wear badges, and they're not police officers. You should be looking for an ID card if you truly want to verify authenticity.
