Hollis Arthur Tessmer, 79, of Barnesville, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.
Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 5-7 p.m.

A giant in the community has gone on to a better existence. I remember Mr. Tessmer as a wonderful leader in the Lamar County School Transportation Department. May his soul rest in peace...

Mr. T. was my first "boss" at Carter's. He was fair, firm and a very unique man. I was 16 years old and he treated me like any other adult in the building. I am proud of my association with this man and am grateful to call his children my friends.

Mr. Tessmer looked after me like a daughter. I loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. He was a man of principle and followed through on what he believed to be right. He was proud to be a veteran; proud to be in charge of the transportation department; and proud to be a husband, father and grandfather. One thing you could count on was his word. In my dealings with him he always followed through with what he would say he would do. Not too many folks like that anymore. I am a better person for knowing him.

Even tho its been 40 some years since I last seen Hollis,I was so sorry to hear of his death,we were togather at Sewart AFB, Tenn.I will remenber his stern military manner, his laugh and smile, my thoughts are with his family during this time.

Barnesville Lamar County has truley lost a great man.Parents didn't have to worry about their children when they were riding Mr. T's bus, because they were in great hands with him.

A man's legacy to the world is his children. Hollis Tessmer left one that cannot have a price put on it - his son and daughter Art and Beth and his grandchildren. RIP

The Georgia State Patrol used to inspect School busses. The first year that we started doing it our post had to inspect all the buses in three counties. We did the other 2 counties first and found a lot of things wrong with them. In fact, one county thought they might have to delay starting school because of it. Mr. Tessmer was in charge of the Lamar County bus barn and when we inspected lamar County, we found all the buses to be in tip top shape. He was a good man.

Tessmer family and friends, I am sorry to read about your dear friend and family member. I write to send an encouraging thought, Acts 17:31 "he has furinshed a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead". Jesus was resurrected and there will be a greater resurrection, where we will be reunited with our loved ones again.

May you be comforted by God's promise of a resurrection, where we can be reunited with our loved ones again, John 5:28,29 "..the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life..." Would that not be a wonderful day?

It has been about 11 years since we have seen this wonderful family. My father Roy Oliver worked with Mr. T for many years at the bus barn. I am so sorry to here about this loss and from one family to another you are in our pray.
