Barnesville gets OneGeorgia funding

The City of Barnesville was awarded $500,000 in Equity Grant funding today, according to Gov. Sonny Perdue.

The funds will be used for water system infrastructure to support the Piedmont Green Power project off MLK bypass near its intersection with Gordon Road.

There was a big article in this past Sunday's AJC concerning the Chinese partnership with Georgia. General Protect was part of the story as well as several other Chinese firms coming to Georgia. In the article, it says Chen is still wanting and planning to build the B'ville plant but a timeline was not given due to the present economic situation. It also said that General Protect and Chen have been completely cleared of several legal issues they had been facing (patents & HD bidding.)

We need a good regional commercial landfill here. We can make lots of money burying or recycling what other people think is useless waste.

Well the "22 jobs created" sounds positive. Hope 1 or 2 of them will go to local citizens.

All hail the Industrial Development Authority!

Doing well in attracting new industry to the area.

Upson gets grants to fund rail service to keep an industry. Lamar builds bypasses and fetes a Chinese con man.

Doesn't the future look bright.

What we do? Mid Georgia Ambulance is moving. We need a fulltime paid fire chief and firefighters with all the fire house. Fire Fighters work 24 hours and 7 days. What we do? fire, rescue, hazardous materials team, medical, training, education and fire safety. What We do? Cleaning the station. Checking out the trucks and all the equipment carried on the trucks. We check to be sure that everything is in good working order, that it is clean and is stored in its proper place. Supplies are checked and restocked if necessary. Then the trucks get washed and waxed if needed. There's nothing worse than a dirty fire truck. After the trucks are clean and stocked. The rescue crews head to the grocery store to buy our food for the day. We have a kitchen in each fire station and attempt to prepare a home cooked meal.
We get up in the morning between 6 and 7am. Make our beds, sweep the floors and empty the trash. We finish up any reports and check the schedule for our duty for the next day. We will sometimes sit at the kitchen table and talk over a cup of coffee about the calls we had and wait for the relief crew to arrive. This is our job. This is What We Do. Ask any of us and We'll tell you we love it.

Are you lonely, bored or stupid? Nothing in this article said anything about fire trucks.

You guy's should have a softball team..............you could call your team "The Chimney Savers"!!! Because by the time you guys get to the house the only thing left to save is the chimney and the well. Then when you leave you back into the chimney knocking it into the well!!

What about all the new air conditioners that were stolen while locked up where volunteer firemen had keys? Was there ever a story on that?
