White House economic adviser Larry Summers says that everyone can agree the recession is over and Americans have “walked back from the brink,” as experts predict that the unemployment rate could climb higher.

THe whole thing is outrageous and it seems that there should be something that WE the PEOPLE could do to stop this mess. It is OUR gov't!!!
You can't tell me it's ended.
One of my brothers lost his job over 6 months ago and can't find another one. My uncle lost his too, can't find another one.
One of my daughters has been searching since July. My other brother and his girlfriend can't find jobs either.
For the people that have jobs, be GLAD you have it and be blessed. I know with the way people are mean and hostile today, that EVERY job has bad things we have to endure.
So sad all around.
Hopefully the recession is over. Even if it is, the road to a full recovery is going to be long. I think it'll probably take 3 years to recover completely.

There are docments spanning at least this time period to show how our Governement, and this includes both Democrats and Republicans equally, have sold our country out.
We are in such trouble because of actions starting back around the 1960's. Only an absolute fool would blame someone in office for less than one year for the cumulation of 40 years of bad representation of our national wants and interests.
It is unlikely we will get out of this mess for at least three reasons:
First we would have to understand where we went wrong.
Second, we would have to change the attitude and mindset of political leaders of both parties.
Third, we would have to reacquire the national wealth we have foolishly given away.
Since congress DOESN"T vote for will of the people, isn't this illegal and they should be thrown out of office and prosecuted?
I have long wondered why the officials in gov't do NOT represent WE THE PEOPLE and can get away with it.
COMMUNISM!!
Just to give you and example of the congressional thieves, I'll ask 3 questions,
1) How many earmarks are in the new $1.1 trillion spending bill?
2) How many earmarks does Ted Kennedy have in the new $1.1 trillion spending bill?
3) Is Ted Kennedy still in Congress?
KEEP ARGUING ABOUT BUSH AND OBAMA AND I THINK YOU WILL NEVER SOLVE ANY OF OUR PROBLEMS!
ROOT CAUSE (CONGRESS) - CORRECTIVE ACTION (REPLACE ALL)
The government owes itself 4.4 trillion borrowed from Social Security and Medicare and such.
It also owes:
Japan $644 billion
State and local governments $467 billion
individuals around the world $423 billion
Communist China $350 billion
pension funds $319 billion
mutual funds $243 billion
United Kingdom $239 billion
US savings bonds $206 billion
insurance companies $166 billion
banks and credit unions $117 billion
Arabs $100 billion
Since 1991 we have had a trade deficit that is on a virtually unchanged upward ramp. This started when we decided to do unfettered global trade. We are not good traders.
Since the Regan-Bush administration, we have been exporting our non-government middle class jobs and running up the national debt. The number of government employees, starting at Reagan-Bush, has been on virtually the same upward slope. Our foreign trade deficit has been on virtually the same upward slope. Our middle class jobs have been on the same downward slope.
There are little peaks and valleys as we sell off our dreams by occasionally having a giant yard sale of our resources, but basically the trends have been the same.
What we have now is not Obama, is not George W Bush, and is not Clinton. It is not the Democrats or the Republicans. It is all of them. Every last one for about the last 40 years.
As only one example Reagan, the big American hero, sold out consumer electronics industry to the Japanese for 2 million dollars. While Reagan, the great slasher of government waste, was in office the number of government employees rose on virtually the same slope as it was rising before him and after him (except briefly during a recession).
All the numbers are out there for people to read if they pull their heads out of their rears and stop focusing on things that are NOT the problem, like earmarks and taxes.
The point was that if dead men can add millions of dollars to our spending, the whole system is out of control.
Presidents cannot bankrupt our country, but congress can!
Cost of Lieberman to the electorate = No public option and no Medicare Buy In
Cost of Lieberman to the senate = Hijacking of Healthcare reform
Cost of Senator Franken gaveling Lieberman = Priceless

Congress basically forced lending institutions to give loans to people of very high risk of being capable of repaying them.
Politicians led the charge while reaping campaign contributions back. The #2 man with his hands out is setting in the Whitehouse now. Some politicians were screaming that these forced loans would backfire. The lending institutions were certainly making money but and little fear of losing because of the support of congress.
Why do you think TARP was made available so quickly? It was to protect the lending institutions and the economy and hide the actions of irresponsible lawmakers. The same ones that are spending out of control right now.
Replace them all. It’s time we show Washington that America belongs to the people. Strip these irresponsible lawmakers of all their entitlements. Tell them the money must now go to paying for their actions of destruction and overspending.
Hint: STOP SPENDING
What happens if you do not stop spending???
Hint: FILE BANKRUPTCY
What happens if our GOVERNMENT does not stop spending???
Hint: OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN WILL BE BANKRUPT
Use a little common sense! When you say government is the only entity that can stimulate the economy, you need to understand just who government is first. They are supposed to be the people, not some magic organization handing out care baskets. Then you need to understand capitalism, which you obviously don't. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that you are some hoodwinked college professor teaching principals of socialism who has never read the Communist Manifesto or anything written on the teaching of Stalin, Lenin, or Mussolini.
Contrary to the belief of so many people, an out of control government can and will do more damage than any good it delivers. The majority of lawmakers in office today are the result of the people not wanting to get involved and other individuals’ hell bent on preserving their own good while making you think they are working for you. Why do you think tort reform is not a part of health care reform? It’s because that gets in the pockets of lawmakers!
Merry Christmas.
The moron.
That industry is gone forever, as are dozens of others that our other leaders have sold.
And we are more alike than our differences suggest.
