#1 you are an ignorant hillbilly! If you knew anything in the world about Lt. Jim Luker you would eat your words. He is the last of the nice guys! Praise the Lord, I am so glad he was not injured.
I saw the wreck last night. The Accord that hit him was in pretty bad shape. I wonder if he had his emergency lights going. LCSO probably will say he did even if he didnt. Then again, the state of Ga. will give anyone a drivers license that has a pulse so it may have been the civilian drivers fault.
We need some more info. I know that Larry or Todd or Brad or someone has some info that they arent wanting to give up right now. Spill the beans LCSO.
"Those windows are not illegal the law provides an exception for law enforcement vehicles"
Go figure! A law that is side-stepped by "the law", for public safety of course...
It IS illegal tint. An officer with ILLEGAL tint can NOT LEGALLY give you a ticket for YOUR TINT. Calling the kettle black if you will.... THAT is the "rule" at the SO. So yes it is illegal tint hickwads
“The same law applies to everyone. If you spend a certain percentage of time in your vehicle doing your job, you are allowed dark tint too”
False
The exemptions to the window tint law are: adjustable sun visors not attached to the glass; signs or stickers displayed in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the passenger side of the windshield or in a five-inch square in the lower corner of the driver's side of the windshield ; law enforcement vehicles; and any federal, state or local sticker or certificate which is required by law to be placed on any windshield or window. Also exempted under the law are the rear windshields and side windows, except the windows to the left and right of the driver, on multipurpose passengers vehicles; school buses and buses used for public transportation; buses and vans owned or leased by any religious or non-profit organization; limousines; and any other vehicle where the windows or windshields have been tinted or darkened before factory delivery or permitted by federal law or regulation.
hey stupid. I saw the aftermath of the wreck. Not play by play as it happened. There were about 7 LE vehicles there with lights going everywhere.
I never knew it was a patrol car involved until i read on here. I only saw a Honda with the front end screwed up.
from what i could tell the Honda was headed towards barnesville when the collision occured. If he didnt have his blue lights on it would be easy to think that the car was moving when they made contact. It was dark outside.
my thoughts exactly. The only reason a vehicle should have overly tinted windows if they have a skin disorder and have a note from a doctor. 32% is good enough for officers to ride in. Its good enough for me to ride in. Im in my car about as much as they are. I would and have gotten a ticket before. If you have a dog in the back id say that the back window could be a little darker. Thats it.

if his tint was illegal he might not could see the shoulder well enough leaving his car exposed in the roadway too much. causing the car to hit it. I would sue LC for all its worth haha ha ha
Well ok then, Must have changed over the past few years. Used to be the way I said cause I had the extra window tint applied with the OK to do it. About 7-8 years ago.
i'm sorry stupid. you need to be clearer in your discriptions. we cant read your thoughts. its hard enough to read your meaning. you first sounded like you wanted to be an a***ole.
no problem stupid.
Summary of my post was that could have been either ones fault. Ga will give a license to anyone who has a pulse.
It is his word against the drivers as to whether he had his emergency lights on. He very well may have had them on. Who knows.
Shelia, no one is blaming LE. I am concearned that the HG hasnt went more into detail about this.
Did Jim have his emergency lights on? (blue lights)
This is a big factor. If he did then it is 100% the other drivers fault. If he didnt then the driver is still at fault but the car could have been mistaken to be moving. Obviously either way they werent paying 100% attn to their surroundings
Would you mistaken a regular non patrol car without flashing lights that is stopped in the road to be moving? People need to pay attention. You know whether a car is moving or not, doesn't give you the right of way to run right into it because the car doesn't have flashing lights on or off. Maybe we should all drive around with flashing lights so everyone knows our vehicle is stopped when it is stopped. That makes more sense, right?
yes they are darker then there supposed to be but its for a saftey reason i bought a old sheriff car the back windows are dark but they made the front windows lighter before they sold the car
reread my post. It is the drivers fault reguardless. However the deputies are supposed to have their "emergency lights" on as do us citizens when we are pulled over on the side of the road. That is why they are called hazard lights on our vehicles.
Surely as long as Jim has been doing this he had his lights on. Ask our sheriff if it is protocol to turn on the "blue" lights in a case like this. He may have had them on.
The driver of the car should be held responsible for everything. They werent paying attention period.

Thinking of our emergency services
on

Something has been on my mind for some time now. Every time you turn around, there is nothing but criticism of our local law enforcement and emergency services no matter what department they work for, whether it is the police department, the sheriff’s office, the fire department, or E.M.S. It seems that no one in this county has the respect they should for these people but yet they continue to put their lives on the line each and every day in order to keep us safe. Everyone should stop and think. No one in this world is perfect, everyone is entitled to make mistakes, and these people have only seconds to make life decisions while everyone else has days to criticize the decision that was made. As for the firefighters we need to stop and think that they are mostly volunteers helping others when they could be spending time with their families. As for the law enforcement, every time they answer a call or stop a car in order to keep us the citizens safe it could be the last minute of their life. I feel that we are lucky to have people like them to watch over us but I could not blame them if they all said the heck with this and walked away. They very seldom hear thank you or you’re doing a good job. It is always questioned why they did what they did, or someone saying our law enforcement or emergency personnel don’t know what they are doing. Each day when they put on their uniforms and tell their family’s goodbye, that may be the last time they get to see or talk to them but they make that sacrifice for all of US and don’t think twice about it. I just want to take this time to say THANK YOU to all of the Lamar County Deputies, Barnesville Police Officers, Milner Police Officers, Gordon College Police Officers, and all of the Firefighters and E.M.T.’s for the sacrifices you make and the job you do. There are a few people who appreciate you. I would like for everyone to read the following poem and keep it in the back of your heads. Oh, and each time you see a Law Enforcement Officer or Firefighter, take a moment to say THANK YOU. It won’t hurt you and it would make their day.
The following poem was found on policepoems.com but tells the story of all emergency personnel.
While you sleep, we're there.
When you're sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, or celebrating Christmas, we're there.
When it’s raining and cold, and you're glad to be in your home with your family, we're out there.
When it's your children's birthday, we're out there.
When it's our children's birthday, we're still out there.
You put on a suit and dress to go to work, we strap on a ballistic vest and a gun.
There's little room for error in your job, in ours there is none.
An error by you means a demotion, an error by us means a funeral.
When you tell your families "see you tonight" as you leave for work, you mean it. When we tell our family that, we pray we will.
At your job you strive to succeed, at our job we strive to survive.
In your job, one bad person is the talk of the office, in our job, one bad officer makes the news and suddenly were all bad.
In these headlines it's not what good we've done, but how much better it could have been done.
When you're scared you call us, when we're scared, we must carry on.
While you're eating a home cooked meal, we're having another hamburger.
While you're asleep with your spouse, ours sleep alone.
So the next time you're out with your family or friends, and you see a patrol car go by, remember the incredible sacrifice made by these officers every day.
Inside that car is a person that sacrifices his/her life, both professionally and personally Every day.

I think you guys are a bunch of gossips. It's none of you business what happen, so keep your speculations to yourself. Officer Lucer is a fine man who doesn't deserve your trash talk. I'd like to know how two sentences got all your tongues a wagging or in this case your fingers a flying.
That area was well lit with lights from three pstrol units and a large wrecker. The young lady was texting and was not watching the road. You can't fix stupied.
My tax money has to pay for the car to be fixed. He is a county official inwhich his salary is paid for by us. I think they S.O. should release some type of statement other than such a general one give the the HG.
I have nothing what so ever against Mr Luker. The details to this accident should be released. They dont mind releasing info on other accidents that takes place all over the county. Why is this one different? Maybe because it involves one of their own. Maybe not. There may not be anything to it. I think the question of whether or not he had his emergency lights on is a pretty logical question that should be answered.
now we are on to something. The info is starting to come out.
So there were multiple LE vehicles on the scene and a wrecker at the time of the accident?
When i passed by i saw all of these vehicles. I didnt know that it happened when all of them were there.
We need an official statement by the S.O. to clarify things.
A policeman is a composite of what all men are... a mingling of saint and sinners... dust and deity. Cold statistics wave the fan over the stinkers...underscore instances of dishonesty and brutality because they are news.
What that REALLY means is they are exceptional, unusual - not commonplace. Buried under the froth is the fact that less than one half of one percent of policemen misfit that uniform. And that's a better average than among clergymen.
What is a policeman made of. He of all men is at one the most needed and the most unwanted... a strangely nameless creature who is "sir" to his face... and "pig" to his back.
He must be such a diplomat that he can settle differences between individuals... so that each will think he won... But if the policeman is neat, he's a flirt. If he's not, he's a grouch.
In an instant he must make decisions which require months for a lawyer. But if he hurries, he's careless. If he's deliberate, he's lazy. He must be first to an accident... infallible with a diagnosis... he must be able to start breathing, stop bleeding, tie splints and above all be sure the victim goes home without a limp,
or expect to be sued.
The police officer must know every gun... draw on the run... and hit where it doesn't hurt. He must be able to whip two men his size and half his age....without damaging his uniform and without being brutal. If you hit him, he's a coward. If he hits you, he's a bully. A policeman must know everything and not tell. He must know where all the sin is and not partake.
The policeman must, from a single human hair, be able to describe the crime, the weapon and the criminal.. and tell you where the criminal is hiding. But if he catches the criminal he's lucky... if he doesn't he's a dunce. If he gets promoted he has political pull. If he doesn't he's a dullard.
The policeman must chase bum leads to a dead end and stake out ten nights to tag one witness who saw it happen, but refused to remember.
He runs files and writes reports until his eyes ache to build a case against some felon who will get dealed out by a shameless shamus or an honorable who isn't.
A policeman must be a minister... social worker... a diplomat... a tough guy... and a gentleman. And of course he will have to be a genius, for he will have to feed a family on a policeman's salary.
i had my scanner on at the time it happened an there was nothing that said anything about a wrecker or other car there before the wreck.right after the wreck the officer called for a wrecker and then other units showed up.come on lamar county stop covering up the truth.
I think this town need's to start looking on how to sweep their own porch's before trying to sweep somebody's else's, I rember when I was just a kid riding
my bike and Mr Luker was riding his bike and he actually stoped and talked to me He was on the city police force then and NO he was not on duty, he was just trying to make some kids day by making them feel like they where special and meant something in this world. The day I got married as I was washing my car geting the writing off the windows he even stoped to tell me congrats and be safe and have fun. How many of you ignorant people on here would do something like that. YOU WOULDN"T! I also work in Jackson and witnessed Mr luker siting on the side of the road behind the log truck with his blue lights on, He is not at fault for the ACCIDENT! thats why there called ACCIDENTS they can happen to anybody. Do you people realize how many time Mr luker has left his family and went over seas to defend our country Probably not your just worried about spiting in his face because of who he is, Get a life move on Officer Luker is a great guy let God judge not you,but then again half of you probably think you better than god!
I dont think anyone has said really anything bad about Jim. You are the one on here bashing people because they are questioning what happened at the scene. There are tons of good people in this world. Im sure that Jim is one of them. That is fine. It still doesnt exempt him from being questioned about the wreck or specifics about it. You are jumping the gun and judging people too while you are telling them not to judge.
We need some more info. I know that Larry or Todd or Brad or someone has some info that they arent wanting to give up right now. Spill the beans LCSO.
#4 ... that ain't a damn reason that I can think of for someone to go out of their lane to hit another vehicle.
Those windows are not illegal the law provides an exception for law enforcement vehicles.
Go figure! A law that is side-stepped by "the law", for public safety of course...

Sure are a lot of armchair lawyers out there that need to actually research the law before erroniously commenting.
