i hate highway 36 i use to take that road everyday to and from work i use to get home at 6am and i met a big truck on a rainey morning coming around a curve speeding he was on my side inches from hitting me head on
Those roads have been around there a long time. It don't sound like a problem with the roads. It sounds like a problem with the people operating the cars.
oh my god...who hasnt? suck it up and get your a$$ up and face the traffic. lamar county does not care, it they did, we would have four lanes every where!
Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. I personally know one of the people involved and it wasn't his fault, or the fault of the other driver. There was a third party involved and it was their fault because they didn't have any tail lights. Get your facts straight.
It is still up to the car operators to be aware of their surroundings. That is the reason a stopped car can not cause an accident. No tail lights were maybe a contributing factor but not necessarily the sole reason. Maybe if you go tell the police that you know one of those people involved and because of that it was a third party fault every thing will be OK.
I hope they are all fine too and have a speedy recovery. The point of my comment was meant to say slow down and arrive alive and not to point fingers. Sorry if your feelings got stepped on a little.
oh my god, that goes to show you don't know what you are talking about! Lamar Co makes no decision about if 36 is a 4 lane, that is a State DOT decision, even I know that. If you don't like living in Lamar Co, please, please, move somewhere else. 4 lanes everywhere??? What a stupid comment

Sick of Hypocrites in Lamar County

You people in Lamar County disguist me! I saw the accident and it was terrible. There is no time to fight over the roads, cars, or anything else. Try getting on your knees and praying for these victims and their recovery.
I do not know who was involved, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless you and give you a speedy recovery.
I take Hwy 36 six days a week. Between Barnesville and I75 I can think of at least five or six high incident areas. Even in low risk sections, if a car was to leave the road the driver may have to avoid near by trees or a steep drop off. With all this in consideration, I worry more about hitting a deer than anything else. You never know what life may throw at you.
Actually, the definition of Hypocrite according to Webster is -- a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.
Therefore you're using the term incorrectly, this person was very verbal about their beliefs and wasn't hiding their true feelings, and therefore he or she cannot be a hypocrite.
Maybe you should check a dictionary before you start using words that you do not understand the meaning of.
all of the above that you described is cause by driver error. The road is plenty safe to drive on. I too travel that road just as much as you have as far back as 1998. The road is fine. Drivers need to quit texting, putting on makeup, talking on the phone, or just plain being careless.
I have texted while driving and i too drive and talk on the phone. I can do both things at the same time. It not really that hard but you just have to stay aware. Some people arent capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time though.
I really hate that people like you keep leaving comments like, "36 isn't that bad, it's the drivers' own faults." The drivers were both paying attention. That's the whole reason that one swerved, because he was paying attention, enough to see the car in front of him, stopped without any lights. If you're going to post comments on this site about people who were hurt, and that you know nothing about, at least be sure to know what you're talking about. You're making yourself look like an ass.
Wow. You must be perfect. We should all strive to follow your perfect example.
Such judgment and intolerance of people. You seem to have things all figured out.
if the driver swerved because of a car was in front of him without any lights on then that is fine. It was the other drivers fault. Could the swerving driver may have seen the reflection up ahead of them if they were paying real close attn. Maybe. You are supposed to scan a 1/4 mile ahead of you. I drive about 2k miles a week. If there is something that im really sure about, it is driving. How can anyone say that it is the "roads fault" that there was a wreck. The road is a sturdy structure that doesnt move or anything other than during some sort of natural disaster. There is nothing wrong with HWY 36.I never said that one of the injured was at fault. The bottom line is that "people" are to blame for accidents unless you have a blow out or something similar and it throws you off of the road causing an accident.
I never said i was perfect. I did say that you can talk on the phone and drive perfectly fine if you are focused on the road more than the conversation.
Oct30,2008 My late husband was killed on HWY 36 going near Bennington,Ne.,going toward Fremont was hit by a Garbage truck. They say that it was his fault after he had pulled over to side of road he didn't see truck coming up behind him when when he turned back toward Bennington. IF it Was his fault Ok But I just need for people to know they need to know HWY 36 needs extra care and watch when you are driving there

I am praying that EVERYONE involved is doing ok, that is the most important thing.

That defines a hypocrite when we make you sick but you continue to read what we have to say and then you comment about it.
